Struggling with the worst smelling gas and bowels in the world!
Im going to say this without trying to not hurt your feelings. All that other stuff, is MY life so please keep your thoughts/opions/judgements about my child, and what I have done in the past to yourself. Im here looking for help with my eatting problem (which is what I thought this board was for) I have an entirely different network for my other issues.
Oh fuck! YOU came here asking for help, and you have the gall to get your feelings hurt? Your eating isn't your biggest problem---your attitude is.

Hi!!! My thoughts and prayers are with you during your trial. I am a counselor and have observed addiction in family members as well as experienced food addiction myself - which has brought me to the point where I need the DS. I applaud your efforts in starting your journey and pray for you to keep moving forward. It is common to move from 1 addiction to another. Getting off the drugs is HUGE and the carbs were part of that - but now is a good time to work toward swapping that addiction for a healthier one - maybe exercise...? The great thing is that you don't have to do it alone - there are therapists, 12 step groups, etc. that can help you to continue moving forward. Remember how strong you are - you have already stopped the drugs and the same strength in you can stop the evil carbs!!! Just don't try to do it on your own. Find the help and support that will make you successful and never give up.

Luann, Thank you for your prayers. I am in a 12 step program. I am working on a lot of things, but my food addiction is terrible. I have talked to my sponsor about it, she can not fully grasp the food addiction thing, but other women in my network understand. I am fully aware what addiction transfer is. I know my problem, Im here looking for help and support.

Awesome!!! I am not surprised that you know about addiction transfer since you have obviously gone far down the road overcoming addictions already. That is SO hard that your sponsor doesn't understand food addiction - and you are right to come here because we do understand food addiction. Can you ever trade sponsors? Having someone who is understanding is critical. I am so glad that you mentioned that there are other women in your support network that do understand :)
I am new on my road to dealing with my food addiction as well - I am having the DS surgery a week from today! I am glad to offer any support that I can. :) I have no idea all that you have gone through - but obviously you are strong because you aren't giving up! Hopefully we can both support each other as we both move forward!!!

You know to lower the sugar and carbs and to increase the protein. Try and fill up more on the protein maybe it will help you avoid some of the carbs/sugar. This is the base of your problem. In addition to lowering the carb/sugar intake here are a couple of things I have read that may help.
You should try Devrom, although this doesn't help some people at all, it does work for others.
This won't help if you don't change your diet but I would try high dose probiotics.
If you are seeing a Doctor ask them about Flagyl - this might offer some temporary relief. Again,
without change this is a temprary fix.
Nothing will work for long if you don't work on your diet. Start tracking to see just how much of your food intake is carbs/sugar/protein and then work to shift the balance away from carbs/sugars. It doesn't have to happen in a single day but little steps will eventually get you there.
Good luck - best wishes to get over this hurdle.
PS - It also sounds like you need to check your labs as soon as you can.
Maybe you can find something else to transfer to like a hobby or something. Maybe find something that fixes the craving with lower carbs and sugar. Do you like peanutbutter and jelly? I use peanutbutter and sugar free jam on Joespehs pita bread. You take care of the sweet craving and still get some protein. Low carb and low sugar. =) Prayers your way. You can do this!
