Hi everyone, My name is James and I am 26 years old. I had my duodenal switch surgery on September 9th, 2013. Before the surgery and two week shake diet I weighed 410 pounds. During the two shake diet pre surgery I lost 28 pounds. And now I am down to 360. I am not one to go to support groups or things of that nature but I came on here and saw how supportive everyone is and that everyone offers a lot of great tips and ideas. So, for right now I am just saying hi!

Hi James.  Welcome to the party.  This is a great place to ask questions.  All types of questions.   We have asked it all, or had it happen to us, so we can help you figure out which way to go.

I have learned so much from the veterans here.  I will be eternally grateful to these folks who have stuck around and pointed me in the right directions.  I've learned from them that my surgeon, who is the most wonderful/gifted DS guy in the USA, knows nothing about nutrition and how to live after the surgery.  I've also learned that 98% of all nutritionists will treat you like you are a RNY patient - and that's never going to end well.  So I don't pay any attention to those folks either.

I also post my lab questions here for Miss G to see and advise.  She is the best at giving me some idea what is going on.

See you around.

Hello and welcome! I had the DS 2.5 years ago and lost 230 lbs I started a little bit heavier than you (460lbs). The DS is amazing and being that you are a male you will get to a healthy weight in no time :)... Good luck on your journey!

Welcome.  You have plenty of support here 24/7 - much better than sitting in a circle once a month.
