210 pounds
I weighed 238 at surgery time, and 20 lbs of that was gained in the previous 3 months before surgery. I was trying to quality for my insurance company's criteria. So I was definitely in the low 200 lbs area.
I lost 50 lbs in 2 months, and then it slowed substantially. I quit losing weight at 7 months - at 70 lbs lost. Every pound after that has been a fight. There are many people like me.
How much you will lose really depends on your age, how long you have been heavy, genetics, where your weight is (apple or pear shaped), how many diets you have tried, how long have you low carbed before the surgery, etc. If you are metabolically challenged, the DS works up to a point. Then we have to dig in to get the last 30 lbs off through grit and determination.
Some people fly to goal, but they tend to be young, or men, or didn’t yo-yo diet, etc. If you are metabolically challenged, you most probably will lose around 80% of your excess weight (according to stats).
March of this year I got the switch portion.i have lost about 20 more pounds and I can see I can lose, but I ha e to still well away from carbs,or I will go into maintenance.
I plan to reach goal. The questionis sooner or later. For me, sooner ifi can stay away from carbs, later ifi am still messing around with carbs. The last seven days have been clean for me as farms carbs go so thAt is good.
I am 4'11" also. I am just not barely in the overweight category and that mis just not good enough. For me. I was self pay with both mmy. Surgeries.

I'm 4'10" and I weighed 231 when I had the DS. When I started, I had to lose 112 pounds to get to my goal weight (119).
You have about a 42 BMI -- people have gotten the DS with even lower BMIs.
As far as I know, once you hit your goal weight, you just have to increase your calorie intake in order to maintain your weight.
I'm super happy with the DS!!

I am at 229, BMI = 39 and I was approved for the DS in a very short period of time. I have a lot of co-morbidities--sleep apnea, Type 2 diabetes, severe arthritis in knees & feet, high triglycerides, depression--so I guess they looked at that and said, "This chick needs some SERIOUS surgery." I'm just starting this journey, getting all my specialist approvals but I expect to have it wrapped some time between Thanksgiving and Christmas
I am 5'4" and weighed 208 lbs when I was approved for the DS (I was also an insulin dependent type 2 diabetic). My starting BMI was 35.2. So I was a whopping 63 lbs OVER normal BMI.
Come join us on the lightweight board. Quite a few of us are DS'ers. And a vast majority of us had less than 100 lbs to lose.
