Fashion: From Yikes to Yahoooooo! *pics*
Ok, so we know that weight loss is mainly about living a healthier lifestyle, feeling better and developing good life long eating and exercising habits. However, I must admit that the shopping has been so FUN! I have always wanted to dress nice, but the clothing selection in the super morbidly obese range is very slim and EXPENSIVE! For years I have been extremely limited in what would look decent on my huge body. I absolutely HATED the way I looked in suits. As a matter of fact, I don't even have full body pictures of me in a suit before surgery.
Triumph! - I recently went into a Big & Tall store out of habit. Some of you may be familiar with it (Destination XL/Casual Male). Anyways, EVERYTHING was too big. LOL! I couldn't believe it! I am now able to go shopping in normal clothing stores and it is SO liberating! Here's a couple of recent snap shots. I hope to have a real photo session done very soon.

Thanks so much for your continued updates. I love having the opportunity to share in your joy as you get to create and express the new you on the outside as your internal changes move along at what seems like record speed.
You are correct that we do this serious surgery to medically save our lives, but in the process, we have the opportunity to learn more about our true selves and can finally have the joy of fully, authentically, expressing our external selves.
I, too, have always loved the fun, bright, bold and expressive nature of fashion.
When I grew up in Canada, there were no large size stores (men or women****il I started making my own, I lived in matronly hand me downs from fat, middle aged relatives in England. I learned how to sew before I was 10 and by 16, I’d taken every design class available to me. By that time, I’d given up trying to hide by always wearing a coat and did my best to create an appealing wardrobe, whenever I could earn a few dollars for fabric. I remember crying in joy when at 16 or 17 yr old, making the lengthy drive to the new Mr Big & Tall so I could buy a pair of jeans.
Fast forward to 3 ½ yr ago, I had a VSG and for the first time ever I fit in the cool clothes, And, I then I became (according to friends and their friends), the queen of thrift store shopping.
A year after the surgery (& 15 lbs from goal), I was in a life changing car accident, which derailed everything… medication to try to control some of the brain injury symptoms caused a tremendous weight gain, added to the multitude of physical limitations have caused a giant move backwards.
At this point, a have a wardrobe of gorgeous clothes (that I’d only ever dreamed of wearing previously) but since the regain at least 85% still (or again) don’t fit me.
In the coming months (once my medical coverage changes), my plan is to have the DS with Dr Keshishian, and then complete the process with Dr Sauceda in Mexico (who I’ve met and adore).
I certainly didh’t want to detract from your success by writing so much about myself… quite to opposite, I wanted to fully express how much your shares mean to me/us but I couldn’t express the depth of my appreciation without telling some of my story.
Seeing your pictures and knowing your joy has kept me motivated for a number of months when the wait has seemed endless..
I hope you will continue to share your amazing experiences with us.
The VERY best to you,
Tricia
ps: : I love the dapper business looks.
And thank you for the wonderful compliments. :D

You look really great!!! It makes me miss the early days when being thinner is new and exciting! The changes happen so quickly it's like a dream come true. Now I forget the fat girl that I once was and I am used to looking and feeling this way. Don't get me wrong...forgetting hell is wonderful. It's nice to revisit the thrill thru you and remember my own journey! I wish all obese people could find there way to this surgery.
Cheers,
Cathy
