4 weeks out + Questions about vites (iron and Puritan's Pride)

Today I am four weeks post-DS. I'm down to 307.6 from 331.1 (surgery day). I had it made up in my mind the day of surgery that I would make it  to 299, but I'm quite alright with losing nearly 24 pounds. Twoterville and Onederland will come eventually. :)

I admit I'm a bit tired of eating. Things I like one day I can't tolerate the next--either taste-wise or stomach-wise. This includes my protein shake. (I need to find a new one) I can't wait until this phase ends.

I have questions regarding my vites.

1. I bought the Cypress polysaccharide iron capsules to take. I tolerate them really well. My question is...should I have bought the tender iron? I know I should have asked this before I bought them, lol. On Vitalady's DS schedule they seemed like they were interchangeable. I'm just worried about absorbtion.

3. Does anyone have any problem with Puritan's Pride vitamins? (I looked in past topics and only saw posts about sales)

I see they still have a nice sale on and I wanted to stock up on vites with my upcoming financial aid refunds. I'm especially curious about the calcium citrate. It seems like a better deal than buying Citracal. (Of course my dry A D E K + iron would still be bought from Vitalady/Amazon).

I've been using Puritan for years.  A decade even.  I buy almost everything there.  I like their products.

That's one heck of a recommendation. Thank You!

They do seem more cost-effective (at least for me) on my current budget. I'd love to buy all Vitalady but I can't.

The iron supplements are very individual. Some folks get along great with polysaccharides alone, some of us have to make a combo of Vitalady's Tender (carbonyl) iron and Proferrin (heme) iron. Go by your labs.

I recommend Vitalady's calcium citrate only capsules over all others.

Thank You! I'll just wait until my labs are done to see how I'm doing. I'll have to stop being so paranoid. :)

I see most people have labs at the 3 month mark. My surgeon requires them at 2 months. Should I just use those or should I try to check and see where I am at 3 with a lab order from my PCP?

2 month labs should be fine and then a set of labs at 6 months and then a year, and a year minimum every year after.

Vits are really unique to each of us.  I started out with Vitalady vits.  Then I ventured into other brands like Cosco Kirkland due to cost.  I migrate away from expensive brands to cheaper ones (or take a mix of each), and watch my labs.

I get my vits from Vitalady (ADEK dry vits and tender iron), but I also mix in HEME iron (love this stuff, but it is more expensive), and Kirkland vits.  I did buy the polysaccharide iron this last time to try it out.  I hope to wean off the HEME iron eventually.

I've heard great things about Kirkland vites. It may be time to finally get a Costco membership. :)

Good luck with the poly iron. I hope it works well for you.
