can't get enough food
I'm having one of those days where I am eating non-stop, all day long. It feels like every 30 minutes I am looking for something to eat.
My family members are weary, eyeing me like I am the omnivore in a pack of grazing animals.... Everyone is keeping their limbs close to their bodies in case my knife does a wider arc around my plate.
Funny how our bodies go through small tummy days where food doesn't appeal to us, then to big tummy days where we will eat anything that we can get on a plate (and some of us aren't even that discerning).
I know that when my body is craving food, it's usually because I am losing weight. I just keep feeding it high protein and fat, and stay on my eating plan when I have one of these binging days, and it all comes out OK on the scales.
What I find so irritating about this whole process is that before surgery I was a MAJOR carnivor, now after the surgery, I take a couple of bites of meat, and I am gagging. I have to pu**** away for a few minuts, and then try again. This process happens a couple of times and then Im done, I cant do it anymore. Im in the process of smoking some salmon as I write this, and Im hopeing I will have better luck with that. I love my DS so far, but eating pure protien has become so difficult for me. I sometimes wonder if the gagging feeling is ever going to go away as far as eating meat. I was such a meat lover before, that it surprises me. These darn protien shakes are soooo expensive to suppliment with. I kind of like the part about gagging and not wanting more, It makes me feel like a normal person and not so out of control while eating.......I just wish I didnt do it while eating meat.... Uhg I feel for ya. I guess we will get through it and find our way....everyone seems to.

I agree that the protein shakes are expensive, in addition to the amount of expensive, real foods we have to eat to begin with.
I was thinking about that the other day while I was at the grocery store. I normally shop the outer walls. I rarely go down an isle any more. My friend touts how many bags of groceries she can get for 50 bucks. I'm lucky if I get 2 bags. She gets tons - but it is all from the center of the store. The boxed cheap carbs, over processed stuff that I don't/can't eat. Eating real, healthy good for you food is expensive.
I do try to eat more eggs now than I ever did before. I eat them any way I can get them into a meal. There is 6 grms of protein per egg, and they are cheap and flexible. I’ve cut down on my protein shakes a lot. I was drinking 4 scoops a day, now I average 1 scoop a day depending on what other proteins I eat.
I remember when I first had the surgery that I had a problem with red meat. I ate 2 bites and I was done. This went on for months, but over time I guess I stretched my sleeve. I can eat 4 oz of red meat now. On some days, I've eaten 7oz, on other days, 3 oz is all it takes. But I remember setting my fork down and coming back to it an hour later for another bite or two.
Since we last chatted about this, I am doing different things on my diet. I did eat the equivalent of a KK, and it did get everything moving again and I did lose weight.
So I am adding more carbs and seeing if my body will release more weight. I'm going to follow your lead on this. Hope it does something.
