Thyroid cyst

I was in a car accident on Tuesday and during the CT scan of my neck, they found a large 4cm cyst on my thyroid. I had never noticed it before,but now it's visible just by looking at me. I am curious if this had anything to do with my excessive weight loss, or maybe the accident made it swell. Any thoughts?

I am going to a specialist on Wednesday and will be having a biopsy. In a weird way, I feel like the accident was fate so I could find the cyst. I will keep you posted.

Thyroid cysts are very common. Most are benign, but of course you need to get it checked out. It is probably (almost certainly) not related to your weight loss, as many people who have never lost weight get them.
