I hope you're feeling better now and the pain is gone. How are you doing?

Call your doc just to be on the safe side. FWIW I've not experienced any pain in my lungs related to WLS.

I will if it
Persists ... It's not in my lungs just under them ... It feels just like gas pain ... However will not resolve it self...

My gas pain would feel like it was caught in a kink of some sort.  It would be up in my left shoulder, then move down to sit just under my left breast, then start moving down further.  I would sit for a couple of days with pain in my shoulder and then a day or two with it in my ribs.

I rarely get that type of gas any more, and it always went away with a bowel movement - but it would take 2-3 days.  The pain was so bad it hurt to take a deep breathe.  It hurt to move.

I did call my surgeon when it first happened, and he told me to take some GasX (which does absolutely nothing for me).  But I would not be able to tell if it was gas or something very serious when it comes on.  The pain is too intense, to lingering for me to discern the difference.  I've never had that kind of gas before till this surgery.

When did you have surgery? Not wanting to scare you, but I'd call my surgeon NOW if it's been less than, oh, two weeks. Wouldn't want to let something go too long and get in trouble!

I would be very careful if you have pain if it  can be just gas but ill explain something to you

when you have the ds  and you have pain for that long i would get it looked at because I had alot of pain  and it would come and last for about 3 hours and id be ok but i ignored it and landed up on life support.

Now when you have  weightlloss sugery  and you get thinner most of you shrinks but your bowel does not actually shrick like the rest of youand it can easily fold up like a curtain and cause a bowel obstruction  this is what happened to me  as  and i had to get an ambulance i nearly died because of ignoreing  the pain so even if it a little pain it is a warning sign do not IGNORE PAIN AFTER WLS!!!!!!!!!!.

talked to Dr. Roslin....he said as long as it is not worse by eating, that if i don't  have a fever or chills...to wait it out... It is by no means a constant pain....just a sharp gas like pain... it has been lessoning though.

This pain has resolved itself :) YAY!!  been cleared for weight lifting now as well.  It did last for 3 weeks ... did not happen from eating ...digestion and pooping were fine... movement brought it on....

To anyone else reading with this issue.

1) Always discuss this with your surgeon.

2) if you do a search here..."sharp pain" ...you will see it is pretty common...and from what I read  it is mysterious and usually resolves itself... but again always contact your surgeon with any pain! (common thought is it is scar tissue tearing away...or muscle issues from the deeper incision being on that side.)
