HELP!!! Sour milk / rotting vegetables smell

I just got back from the store (Rite Aid).  They had several probiotics to choose from but not the one I was looking for.  I went with a chewable one from GNC (they carry part of the line).  I also picked up some zinc.  I haven't been taking it so I'm sure I'm short on it.  I'm hoping it has a deoderizing effect.  And, I got lots of yummy carbs to back myself off of ketosis.  My bf is fussing at me that it doesn't take much to come off of ketosis and that I don't need to go overboard but I have a dragon-mouth excuse to take advantage of enjoying a free pass to carbs and I'm taking it!!!  lol ...  Eating a bowl of some pasta right now.  Gonna eat some doritos in a little bit.  And, I'm enjoying a glass of carb laden milk.  Yum!!!

I really hope my breath abates before I head back to work on Monday.  I went to town with my Mom.  She got out of the car and came back a few minutes later and when she opened the door she said, wow.. you're right.  That is strong.  ... She could smell where my breath had stunk up the vehicle.  Do you think that bad breath would be an acceptable "I'm sick" excuse???  Sigh....

This is thread I started a couple of years ago. After increasing my probiotic and using one with more varieties of strains, I haven't had a problem.

The problem was definitely not ketosis. I have had that due to my diabetes and it is a sickly sweetish rotten fruit smell. Besides I was never in ketosis as I can test with urine strips. I am sure it was bad bacterial strains in my gut.

I actually read that thread before posting mine.  It had good information!  I was hoping that because it was from a couple of years ago, there might be more information on the issue.

Diabetes is not an issue for me anymore and the bf said it's not a sweet/sour smell, so that rules that out.  (I still can't smell it myself!  I think that's bc is "my" odor and also because my sinuses don't function with smells very well due to the allergies.)

I'm glad to hear that the probiotics did the trick for you!  I am hitting them kind of hard today but will go on a regular schedule of them in a day or two.  I'm taking one that is a GNC brand.  It was buy one get one free.  lol ... I bit.

It has been reported the gummi probiotics may not be as effective. I used them for awhile. I am pretty casual about what probiotic brand I use, I just try to get the largest number and most varied types of biotics. I also strive to get them naturally. Look online for probiotic foods-you'll be surprised.

I had a bad experience with chewables, the chewable calciums.  They gave me like 7 cavities!!!  Taking so many of them throughout the day and them sticking to my teeth, I had a lot of cavities result from it.  So, I didn't even look twice at the gummy probiotics.  The ones I got are chewable but they are tab-like.  I do like that they are chewable because I noticed that some probiotics are time released and I didn't trust time released with a DS stomach and bowels.

You can purchase the Keto Styx that will tell you if you are in Ketosis.  Then you can map it to your bad breathe and see if there is a causal relationship.  Being in Ketosis will give you bad breathe - and it's an easy thing to test for.  The keto styx can be purchased from any drug store.

Thanks!  My bf has some (I think) but I didn't think to test myself before going carb heavy.  He says that he thinks my breath might be getting less harsh but I've been chowing down on breath mints with a neutralizer.  Fingers crossed!

primal Defense Ultra is readily available on the Internet. Just Google it for many possible sources. It's even on Ebay.

I think that a good probiotic might make a huge difference for you. It's certainly a safe thing to try.

I will check it out on Amazon.  I love reading all the customer comments.  And, I've heard quite a few people on her mention the benefit of taking more than one kind of probiotic.  I'm looking forward to picking up some kefir and Good Belly, carbs be damned!

Good news!  My dragon breath abated last night and according to my bf my breath was back to normal (keeping my fingers crossed that that's a good thing.. haha).  I am so glad that I am no longer filling whole rooms with a breath of foulness!  (lol)

It's disappointing that I won't be doing truly low carb because I had finally succeeded in being able to sustain low carb and I was seeing a difference in the scale.  Even after my high carb eating yesterday (and in truth I ate off plan on Friday night as well before I even realized my breath was so strong and bad), the scale registered this morning my lowest weight so far since starting this diet.  And, I discovered Raw Coconut Butter as a means to helping me succeed at maintaining a low carb diet.  It made it so much easier for me to do than I had experienced in the past!

THank you all for your support!  I will continue to work toward low carb and will try to find that balance between low enough carb to lose weight / high enough carb not to go into ketosis.

Thank you again!
