Re-post in the hope of better formatting!! kiss

My zinc being low explains my horrible skin!  I don't get how zinc can go from above range to below range in 1 month.  I went from 200mg zinc/day to 150mg and I didn't like the drop due to my skin.

PTH is high despite doing 6 batches of calcium a day (3 calcium carbonate 600mg from Vitalady and 3 Bone Booster Compex 666mg).  I had borderline osteopenia in a couple of vertebra in my last dexa scan in Jan and managed to get another scan approved for Jan 2014 so may consider bisphosphonates then if necessary :-(

Folate is down from 76 to 44 in one month - WTH??

I'm on the Vitalady program with vitamin K2 and the extra calcium above added.

Anyways, it may be easier to view the labs here if the formatting messes up below: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/33417203/Lab_Tracking.xl s

TIA xoxo

Your labs have gone crazy but it isn't anything you're doing wrong.

It looks like your body just doesn't like to take up zinc. The good thing is your copper isn't high, which if it were, might have been driving it down. I'm guessing you'll be going back to the previous dose. The big difference says to me your previous low level was a lab error.

If they decide to put you on an osteoporosis drug make sure you've gotten that D3 level up. How much D3 are you taking now and when?

I'm on 50,000iu of Dry D3 from Vitalady.  I'm going to see if the consultant doing my follow up will give a D shot in February (he said he's fine with me having shots) as my PCP won't as they said D is cheap to buy even though the dry version isn't available in the UK!! :-S

With your D level....I would triple that dry d3.  Take that three times a day.  That will help your PTH level as well.

I will if I have to, it's just that shipping and customs from the US pretty much double the cost.

I've just written a letter to my PCP to see if I can get vitamin D shots as the surgeon who does my follow up has agreed to give me a shot when I see him in February although I really want to get an injection or 2 before then.

Gina,

Shouldn't she be using calcium citrate instead of calcium carbonate? Or is that more of an individual thing? Just confused here no real advice to offer.

Duh I'm an idiot - I'm sure Vitalady doesn't sell calcium carbonate, I should've put citrate.  Gina obviously realized I was being dopey and worked out what I meant.
