Hey everyone!

I'm about 3-1/2 weeks post op. I've been getting in all my vitamins and about 50-60 grams of protein per day, but I still feel like I have no energy. I was thinking that it was because I wasn't eating enough protein.

So this morning, I had the brilliant idea of drinking my protein shake while eating my meal. (I figured that my protein drink is really like water anyway, so it would be the same as drinking water.) Well, I fell asleep shortly thereafter and slept until noon! I am still so groggy and don't feel like doing anything. And seven hours later, I still feel full! I cannot even think about eating something else at the moment.

Was your energy level about the same at 3-1/2 weeks out? What can I do to feel more energetic? Right now, I just feel blah. And I'm supposed to go back to work on Tuesday.

Yes it took me 6 weeks to get back to normal energy level..Your body has went through a major adjustment so it needs lots of rest to recover.  Thats when your body heals when you are resting.  This will get better each day.

You are doing a lot better than me at 3 1/2 at getting protein in. I'm at 5 weeks tomorrow getting anywhere between 50 and 70 grams of protein in and almost feel normal. I haven't tried to go to the gym and doing a real work out but I want to either next week or the week after. I'm trying to get organized with college classes (homework) and work to fit in the gym first.

I was still dragging ass at 3 1/2 weeks.  It takes time.  Sleep when you can.  It gets better.

I remember that  at month and a half out, I put on Thanksgiving dinner for 16 people. I was pretty tired but I could do it. I think it took quite a while for me to get my energy back. You are still putting energy into healing.

I was really listless for a good 5 weeks, myself.  Things started turning around about week 6, so hang in there.  Make sure you're drinking plenty, for dehydration also causes fatigue, but so does healing.
