I'm almost 3 weeks out and have been eating mostly soft foods lately. I would love to eat bacon with my scrambled egg, but wanted to make sure it isn't too soon.

The list from my surgeon mentions turkey bacon, but I'd much rather have the real thing.

How soon could you tolerate bacon?

I ate it at around three to four weeks out.  It was a little painful...  Had to go slow and chew it along time.  To be honest it was the thing that I had a hard time with, only because once I tasted it I wanted to chow down, but I couldnt...  It was the one thing that made me feel frustrated because I couldnt eat it the way I really wanted to.  Is it possible yes, just take it slow, and maybe dont make it crispy, I did that to...ya live and you learn...lol

maybe buy some real bacon bacon bits? At least it is in small softer chunks? I've had a tiny bit of it when I make my husband a salad. I can't have much at all though it sits pretty heavy for me.

I think I was about 5 weeks, when I hit the "unrestricted textures" phase of my surgeon's plan.

Kinda depends on how you cook your bacon. If you're in the 'it can't be too crispy for me!' crowd, then you'd better wait until you're cleared for things like nuts and jerky. If you're like me and like it limp, you can probably eat it now, if you chew really well. I think I had my first at about 4 weeks.
