5 day post op question
Our stomachs are very sensitive right after surgery. What we could eat or drink prior doesn't sit well after surgery. Did you mix the protein shake with milk? Many people become lactose intolerant after surgery, did you use milk in the protein shake. After my surgery I had the hardest time finding a protein shake that sat well with me.
Yup. Check the carbs on that drink, see how much of the carbs are sugars. If that is 5 or less (if I read that label correctly), see what type of sugar substitute they are using. You might be having a reaction to that specific type of sweetener.
Some sugar alcohols send me to the bathroom every time. Others do not give me any problems at all.
Of course, this is all based on the assumption you are not mixing real cow milk of any kind (1%, 2%, fat free, powdered milk) into your shakes. Heavy cream or milk substitutes are great.
Good luck finding one that works for you! I spent so much money trying different flavors. One would work for a week then I just couldn't stomach it anymore. A beef broth protein was the best for a little while and I can't stand it anymore.

I went through some $$$ switching powders also. But I also used up everything I bought. It took a little time, and I had one counter full of 2lb tubs of powders for months...
I baked with it, I combined them with each other to get different flavors (like mixing choco with vanilla to tone both drink tastes down), I started making protein coffees (recipes for this on every DS forum I visit), making cool mixed drinks with SF syrups, ect.
I finally found a product that I believe is great quality for the money, and the taste is something I can drink 2 times a day/every day for forever and never grow to hate it. I'm lucky that I found it. Otherwise, I would just keep rotating the powders and looking for creative ways to use them.
And I can't stand vanilla in any brand (tastes like arm pit), but they work great with coffee.
