It's the hormone dump caused by losing weight (hormones are stored in fat cells). While you can't stop it, you can mitigate it by keeping your skin as clean AND hydrated as you can.

Definitely hormones!  You can get creams from a dermatologist that will help.

Get your zinc levels checked as that can cause acne.  My skin was OK when I was taking 200mg/day but I've cut back to 150mg as I was ABOVE the normal range!!  My skin is now bad :-(

I'm thinking of trying a 25% glycolic skin peel.  I'm gonna start with my forehead as my bangs will cover the peeling - I'll see where I go after that.

I do glycolic peels.  Let me know if you have any questions.

How bad is the skin hanging off stage?  I'm guessing it's too bad to go into work with and hard to time for a weekend.

Do you use anti-bacterial wipes and Vaseline on treated skin?  This is what I'm thinking of starting with http://www.amazon.co.uk/Yavonae-Chemical-Exfoliant-Antibacte rial-Ointment/dp/B002ORUVS8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=137701832 1&sr=8-1&keywords=yavonae

I don't have major zits, but lots of tiny bumps.  Any input is much appreciated.  TIA.

I use a 30% solution, made by Skin Obsession.  This was recommended by others, and I bought it off the web.  I do not use a brush, just cotton pad.

I researched how to do this, watched 2 Youtube videos on it, and really googled to educate myself.  There are some great Youtube videos on this.

How much your skin reacts depends on each person.  Starting with a 20% is safe.  My skin is normal to oily (oily before the DS), so 30% makes my face red that evening, but the inflammation is gone the next morning.  I could do it on Sunday afternoon and be OK for work by Monday.

2 days later, little bits of skin starts flaking off (not noticeable to people who don't know what I did).  I gently exfoliate my skin every morning, and keep putting coconut oil on as a moisturizer.  No big skin sloughing off, which is why I say I could do 40%.  You don't know till you try a peel to see what affect it has on your skin.  If your skin is really dry, I could see it reacting more.  How long you leave it on also determines the amount of skin sloughing.

I use the baking soda rinse, which neutralizes the acid.  It burns a bit as I put on the soda water, but I like that it halts the process.

If you start out with a 20% solution, put on for 1 minute, then stop - you will have a benchmark reaction to gauge future use by.  Next time you can leave it on longer to get a stronger reaction.

Thanks for all the advice.  I'll also check out youtube too as that really hadn't crossed my mind for peels.

I'm holding off ordering 'til I'm back from hol so it'll be September before I order anything.  I'll post a thread if I don't lose my nerve to go ahead. :-)
