Hi all. I just wanted to say hello. This is the first time I have been on the website in many many years. I just wanted to check and see if any of the other long timers is having problems with Vit D. levels and what they are doing about it.  Thanks

I see several long termers taking 100,000 IUs of Vitalady's dry D3 50,000 capsules. I've been lucky lately and 50,000 IUs a day are still plenty and keep my labs around 100.

Hi, I am 8 years out and my Vit D is very low, my dr. doesn't understand why I am worried, he just doesn't get it. But I have increased the amount I was taking to 800mg and I need to get my labs done to check it again. Maybe in the next couple of weeks.

Susan, 800 mg of D is nothing for us. Most of us take 50,000  of dry D daily, and some need 100,000. And it MUST be the dry form, you won't absorb much of the standard stuff packaged in oil because we absorb so little fat. So you are right to be worried (good for you for knowing the doc is wrong on this one) but not doing enough about it.

You can get the dry D in the right quantities either from the manufacturer (Biotech) or from Vitalady. Prices are better at Vitalady.

I take the injections because they absorb differently into your system. You only get them once a year. I will see how my Vit D is doing next labs and post.

Sorry folks, I meant 4,000 mgs, I take 4 pill and they are 1000 mg each, but I thought 5000 was a lot? My Dr. said 2000 but that was not enough. I guess I will get my labs done this week and see how it is doing.

Glad you are getting on top of this. Your doctor simply does not understand how your malabsorption of fat soluble vitamins works. For someone else his advice might be ok, but not for us.
