Water-Soluble?

Fat-soluble vitamins means you need fat to... absorb it? Since we don't have adequate fat, we should stay away from those vites and ge****er-soluble vites? Do I have this correct?

p.s.- Someone just wrote to stay away from gel capsules. Is this correct also?

Thanks for any help!

Our bodies store vitamins 2 different ways- fat soluble vitamins, A, D, E, K- are stored in the fat in our bodies.  Water soluble vitamins are stored in fluid, and are metabolized and excreted quckly from the body- vitamin C and B vitamins.  Because we absorb LESS fat after DS, we need to frequently replenish the fat soluble vitamins, which we usually store for a longer length of time.

I also read that about the gel caps, but I don't have any info on that!

Avoid gel caps and get your vites in dry form.  If you buy from Vitalady she sells the correct forms for DSers.

You can also find dry A, E   and K1 and K2 on www.luckyvitamin.com . I love VItalady, but right now, I just can't pay her prices. Maybe for 1 or 2 that I can't get elsewhere in the potency DSer's need, but not the whole DS program.

I get my D3 50,000 IU on eBay (yes, they have lots of stuff we DSer's use!)

Yes, stay away from gel capsules.  They are also oil filled, and you would not absorb anything from them.

All A, D, E  and K vitamins we take must be in dry water soluble/miscible form, or injectable.

Jazz - Right! I feel you on that. Vitalady's prices... I just can't do that right now. I'll look on Amazon for all the suggestions.

THANKS EVERYONE!

Thanks for posting this. This was all news to me. I can't believe my surgeons office hasn't said one word about any of this to me. I will be asking the Dietician about this for sure when I go for my final pre-op app. Friday.

Good luck with asking the dietician about the dry vitamins. Most times they have no idea what you are talking about, so don't be supprised if they poopoo the notion of dry vitamins.
