I'm 12 weeks post-op and just had my first blood work in. Almost everything are perfect. But I'm low in a few things:

Creatinine= 6    Normal is 7-25 mg/dL

Vitamin D= 26 Normal is 30-100 ng/mL

Vitamin A= 31 Normal is 38-98 mcg/dL

Zinc, RBC= 6.9 Normal is 9.0-14.7 mg/L

I don't currently take any Vitamin A  or Zinc. And I'm not sure what Creatinine is. Pleas help.

while you are early out post op, you really need to add vit a and zinc to your other fat soluble vitamins (like vit a,d, e, k , zinc, vitamins that need fat to be absorbed)   you also need to increase your vit d3 water miscible amount you are taking.

The creatinine issue might be due to low fluid intake. Time to checkout www.vitalady.com for her dry D3, A, E and K. There is a DS vitamin plan on her web site.

Your Vitamin A level is dangerously low. As I understand it, low Vitamin A can cause vision problems, particularly night blindness. The damage is not reversible. I take 100,000 mcg (I believe that is the measurable unit) per day. You really need to get that addressed as soon as possible.

Your D is low. I take 50,000 units a day. You can take more until your levels increase a bit and drop back later. There is a wide variety of different D levels that people take. You will only find what works for you via your own labs. The good news is that there shouldn't be irreversible damage. You can bring your levels up with supplementation.

You should be taking zinc as well. I don't currently have access to the file where I store that information.

I can't help with the creatinine. Sorry.

Why are you not taking vit A?  What are you taking?  I hope you are taking the other fat solubles.....E, K and D3.  And they are all supposed to be in dry form.

I take a Pill that my doc makes that has all those plus more in it. It does have A and Zinc but i suppose it's just not enough.

"A" pill is not gonna work well...it might be fine for some and other values in your body be critical LOW. And with a pill that has all, you can't fix the low ones without upsetting the ones that are fine.

Oh dear.  You have much to learn.

Those combo pills are a waste of money.  None of them have enough of anything in them.  Most DSer's have to take at least 50,000 units of dry D3 everyday.  Some take up to 150,000 units per day.  Most DSer's take at least 25,000 units of dry A per day.  I can garantee you that there is no where near that much in the pills you are taking.  You have to take them seperately (A, D3, E and K) so that you can adjust them per your labs.  You are early out, you can still fix this before you get in trouble.  You are not going to see any major deficiencies until later (except for the ones that you have now, probably because you were already deficient pre-op).  For the first year, at least, your body can live of the stores in your body.  Once you start showing a deficiency you are in major trouble.  It is much easier to maintain levels than to dig yourself out of a whole.

Check out vitalady.com and look at her DS pack to see what she has in it.  That is where you should start and adjust per your labs.  You'll should get labs done every 3 months for the 1st year and then every 6 months thereafter.
