Day 6 post-op

 

I had my DS on Monday with Doctor Greenbaum. The surgery went smoothly, except for a large hernia the Doc found at the incision site of my hysterectomy 18 months ago. Because of its location and size, the Doc was unable to deal with the hernia now, without putting my life in danger. He said if I can deal with it for about a year, he could remove the hernia and do a tummy tuck at the same time. My medical insurance would cover the hernia operation, and I'd only need to pay out of pocket for the tummy tuck.   I slept most of the time in the hospital. It all went so fast. I came home yesterday. First thing I did was jump on the scale, only to find out that I put on 2 pounds in the hospital. I suspect it was from the liquid IVs and hope to see that number  trickle down over the next few days.   I'm so happy to have the surgery behind me. Doc G and his staff have been wonderful to me. My family, friends and co-workers have been very supportive.

Welcome! I'm a Dr. G pt as well. Don't get hung up on the scale. It will send you to places you don't want to go! After my 2 week post op visit (by the way, I had only lost 2 lbs!), I never weighed unless I went to a doctor. The weight will come off at it's own pace as long as you follow the DS rules. Good luck on your new adventure!

Congratulations! Its always so nice to have the worst part behind you. Take care of that hernia-my doc gave me a support to wear when I need to and mine will be taken care of in a year when I have my tummy tuck also.(in the meantime I look like I am about 6 months pregnant!)
