Still trying to have the DS surgery... But drug addiction and surgery how does that work
While it upsets me to see someone waste their life away...it is even more appalling to me that you obviously have the resources to live this destructive lifestyle and still have the funds to consider surgery. There are people here who have had to save, sacrifice, and battle with insurance companies to get this life saving surgery. You didn't come here to talk about the DS (as most of your post is about your addiction and not weight or health problems...other than the hillbilly crack). Right now, food is not your biggest enemy. You are!. Your foremost priority should be rehab. I'm sorry if this seems harsh, but from the way you are treating your life, someone needs to give it to you straight.
Alicia,
Plain and simple from what you are describing to be your life, you are nothing short of a mess. The last thing you should be considering is weight loss surgery. If you get a surgeon to even consider giving you the DS, his/her license should be taken away.
Get you mind/mental health in order first. PLEASE consider a long term inpatient rehabilitation facility. There you'd be able to work on all of your addictions and disorders.
All Best!!!
I want to commend you for having the courage to post what you did.....I have never had any addiction to anything except food, and that is a killer. so some stuff I can't relate in your post. I would suggest going to rehab, and staying away from people who make it easy for your to use. The DS carries a lot of compliance if you don't take your vit/mins and eat enough protein etc you will die a slow and painful death. so if you dont come clean you really think you are going to take your vit/min eat protein etc? don't minimize the importance of this. You can change your life....for many of us our lives were changed with the DS. I wish you all the very best in your journey

Actually in another thread you say it's TennCare UHC...
A lot of surgeons won't take my insurance I have tenncare United Healthcare. Dr. Boyce was one of the few who accepted my insurance and performed the DS surgery.
Well, here is what TennCare is:
TennCare is the State of Tennessee's Medicaid program that provides health care for 1.2 million Tennesseans and operates with an annual budget of approximately 9 billion dollars.
So yes, it IS Medicaid...just called TennCare here in TN.
Duodenal Switch (Lap) 01-24-11 | Surgeon: Stephen Boyce | High weight: 250 in 2002 | Surgery weight: 203 | Lowest weight: 121 | Current weight: 135 | Goal weight: 135

Yes I remember you, and how offended you got when I suggested there was not only a problem staying with your addict BF, but dealing with your own addiction, which you were adamant was not a problem because you had not used in weeks.
You need rehab, and at the very least NA. You may manage two weeks, even months, but meth will call to you. You will go back. Get the help you need and have a chance at living a decent life.
Forget this surgery as it's a certain death sentence with the kind of **** you have going on.
I've been reading your posts since you first showed up here. I know that you're very young, and have done a lot of foolish things, but I also think you're pretty smart---when you actually bother to use your brain.
GET INTO REHAB NOW. Lose all your user friends---they're not really 'friends' anyway, they're enablers. You have far bigger problems in your life right now than your weight, and until you deal with them, you'll NEVER be successful with any form of WLS.
Meth is the hardest drug to quit I've been told. You have to, for your life.
Find a rehab and go for as long as they will keep you. Then ask for a half/way house. Go to NA EVERY DAY.
I know what it takes to get well and it is a full time job for a long time.
I'm sure that one day you will be free of your addiction and will be ready for the next part of your life journey. But today the first step is getting into rehab.
Best of luck to you. I know you can do it.
