APPROVED FOR DS REVISION SURGERY
on 5/4/13 9:24 am - ewing, NJ
I was just approved for revision surgery to lengthen my common channel and repair a hernia. I was becoming malnourished and protein levels were the ultimate low!!! I really don't wanna get another surgery and I am afraid of how much recovery time I may need. My weight has been stable for the last 2 months (since having TPN in Feb/March) and my labs are slowly improving just trying it if I should go through with this or not. I am able to keep food down now and the diarrhea has decreased as well. Any insight???

Its presently 50cc Dr.Greenbaum wants to make it 100cc. Im not sure just what my gut is telling me. But I do know it did not feel good once my body went into the malnourished stage.
Wishing you all the best. 100cm is a good length and easier to deal with than the shorter ones...IMO.
I do best low carbing under 50 grams a day, cutting out gluten as much as possible and eating macadamia nuts instead of peanuts or pistachios. Little or no bathroom issues this way. Once you get your protein and general nutrition up, your labs will improve greatly.

goog luck with your revision....50 cm that is really short, especially now, when surgeons are doing 100+ (my surgeon doesn't do anything less than 125 because he thinks there are too many malabsorption issues) the shorter CC are usually still done by surgeons overseas, and 1-2 in the states....wishing you a great journey
Hello, my name is Tony, I had my D/S in May 2006 and all was fine until a colo-rectal cancer diagnosis in 2008. Anyway, I may need to have my CC lengthened. Don't know what the length is now. I'm curious, I know ALL surgeries are serious, but can you give me any info on what the Revision consists of? I haven't been able to find any info online. I've had two surgeries since April 16th of this year and I'm not really keen on having another...
Thanks, hope to hear from you,
Tony
