VSG on 10/09/12
You will do great!!! Say hi to Dr Gagner for me! And the nurses at the WSSC. They are all lovely! Just a question Michelle, when did you have your VSG and how do you know it has stretched? Was it also Dr G who did your VSG? Reason I am asking is that when I was talking to him pre op I asked about the DS right away and he didn't think I should do the DS but said that if the VSG doesn't work for me then I can always add the switch later, like you are doing. I am glad I followed the advice, well, actually, he would not have done the DS on me at all at that point. I am glad I have the VSG but the fear of having to go back for the switch really is in my head all the time. With my personality and lifestyle maintaining the vitamin and supplement regiment for the DS as well as monitoring level would be a full time job. So I am hoping that I am all done in the surgery department but I do ask myself the question, was my VSG done with the second part in mind already? I hope not but who knows?

First, thanks so much to all who sent best wishes for me. Really nice!

Wantmylife, I had my VSG in Michigan at Barix. As a lightweight, they thought it would be enough for me. BUT I ate too much all the time, barfed up food all the time, and stretched out the stomach big time. I really abused it with too much food. I did lose weight at first, and maintained for a few years. Then I stopped working and became depressed and sedentary, and regain started quickly. I asked for  a DS because of the regain. You have to be really careful with the VSG, it's only restriction, and if you abuse the restriction, it eases up too much. It's not the surgery that failed me, I failed it. A careful person could succeed with a VSG alone, at least if they really try not to eat when full. I hope it will be enough for you. I will update on how the "half DS" went for me asap. I just hope it will help me, I love to eat the worst foods and often.

THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE!!   -Michelle
