Hi there,

I haven't been on the board for a really LONG time.  I see some names from back then and lots and lots of new ones. Yay!

I have a friend who'd like to know the range of cost for folks who had to self-pay.

Any info, really appreciated.

Well hello there! Still tossing around those 100-pound sacks of potting soil?

I did self-pay, but that was way back in '03. I'm sure things are MUCH different now. I *think* Ungson in Mexico charges around 16K, inclusive.

Hey, Ms Batt, so cool to hear from you!  Wish I were tossing those bags around. I've become a terrible recidivist, however, I *have* started walking again.

I seem to have developed arthritis in my hips and I think walking (and Meloxicam) are going to the best bet to keep me out of bed. LOL

All my boys say I have to start working out again. They're right.  M o t i v a t i o n.....Workin' on it.

Arthritis is a ***** I've had it extensively since I was 20, and being 55 hasn't made it any better. (*grin*) I do a lot of my gardening sitting down now.

According to unions website, he's now charging 11,000 for DS, 14,000 if it's a revision. I know because I just received an email from him this morning.

Dr. Jose Rodriguez-Villareal charges 11,000 for a revision.

Wow.  Ungson has really come down.  He was 16K last December, when I called and got a quote.

Hey, I remember you! Great to see you here again.

In addition to Dr. Ungson, Dr. Aceves in Mexico is also doing the DS now, and while he has less DS experience than Dr. Ungson he does have a great reputation, and last I knew he was having Dr Ungson assist him with his DS's while he gained experience. I don't know what he charges.

If your friend wants to stay in the USA, I believe Dr. Stewart in Denton, TX has a good self-pay deal, though again I don't know the details.

Im having mine with Dr. Aceves next month.  He doesnt have Dr. Ungson do it with him anymore, But his cordinator Nina says if you want Dr. Ungson there it cost an extra three thousand dollars.  By himself Aceves charges thirteen thousand.  Dr. Ungson Trained Dr. Aceves in the DS, and feels he is fine to do it by himself.  Im sure you know that Dr. Aceves has an amazing reputation. and was the head of bariatrics from 2009 through 2011.  On the cover of Newsweek May of 2012.  I sound like a comercial...lol  Ive just been researching this since sept 2012.  I feel like my eyes are going to bleed...lol  Im glad its almost over.  I never jump into anything to quickly....(@:
