Taking 50,000 international units (IU) a day of vitamin D for several months has been shown to cause toxicity.

Also, there's more than one type of vitamin D.  The 50000IU is probably D2 (ergocalciferol).  You also need D3.

Your doctor should be doing a whole panel of vitamin and mineral tests on you to make sure that you're getting what you need and not getting too little/too much of anything.

Wow, thanks for the heads up. My levels are so low that it shouldn't be a problem for now, but I'll def. monitor it and keep this in mind.

The dry D3 50,000IUs is pretty standard for DSrs. I think the warning is for the oil based D2 and for normies how have no trouble absorbing it. Still a good idea to watch.

like Becky and Sandra, I have had much better experiences at the hospital lab -  better than Quest or Labcorp.  Subligual B12 should be just fine.  I'm one of the ones who got burnt with B complex.  Too much B6, nerve damage.  I don't take any B6 now.
