Goat Meat Anyone tried?

I was looking up a local delivery service.  They offer "goat meat".  I still have a hard time with hamburger (someone along the way told me it was because of ground cartilage), then I tried ground steak and still had a problem.  I was just wondering if anyone had tried goat meat.

Here are the stats on it.  3oz yields 25 grams of protein.

It is a bit pricey but if it works and gives me some variety, I'm ok with that.

It's about the same protein as steak, so I wouldn't bother.  I had a hard time with ground beef for a few months.  Instead, try some tender beef like prime rib, filet mignon, pot roast, stew or ribeye (yes, it makes a difference).    When you move on to chicken, try tender thigh meat instead of breast.

It's not common here but in the rest of the world it's much more common.  I ate a lot of goat and I think it's quite good.  Expensive here but it shouldn't be.  A goat is much cheaper to raise then a cow.  And it grows up faster.

I seem to only be able to eat certain steaks.  I can eat chicken breast no problem.

I think I am going to try this.  Just for something different.

Thanks!

I have eaten a lot of goat meat - its common in Morocco.  Go for it.  If it works for you great.  It does have a slightly different flavor than other meat.

Also try simmering your meat until it falls apart - a few hours in a crock pot should do the trick.  And with the extra moisture it is much easier to digest.

There's an Ethiopian dish I love called(don't freak out here) Bug.  It's like a slowcooked stew of goat and hot peppers.  Always served with injeera.  Wonderful!

I can't stand ground beef anymore for some reason, but love steak!  Ribeye, filet mignon, and chuck blade are my favorite cuts!

I have never tried goat, but I really like lamb.  I'm not sure how similar they are in taste/texture.

I have raised goats my entire life...I even paid my way through college by judging dairy goat shows   Anywhooo.....as far as the flavor, I find it to have a flavor that I do not enjoy. Based on the type of goat used, the flavor can be mild- to tasting LITERALLY like a buck (an uncasterated male that gives off a strong odor).   It can also be very stringy, so if that is something that doesn't sit we'll with your pouch, it would be a no go....

What POUCH?  Just confused because DSers don't have pouches.
