On to the next phase. I have moved on from just my doctors advice to now seeking advice from the DS vet's here. We didn't have a falling out, I just feel it's finally time. So my vites are:

1 multi vit per day
3 vitamin D per day
3 vitamin A & D per day
3000 mg Cal Citrate per day

Taken in 3 intervals daily. Any recommendations?

Oh yeah, lost a bit over 5 lbs since Thursday.

Double the multi's per day

At least 50,000 iu of dry  D3 (get online)

At least 25,000 iu of dry  A  (get online)

Also, add some zinc, copper, selenium and B12

Will do.  Wow I really have moved on to the next phase....

So I am taking Twin Lab Allergy A&D3

Both components are dry , the A is 10k but the D3 is only 400 so I'll have to adjust that to meet the requirements.  The Multi I take is GNC Mega Man which has the components:  B12 @ 50 mcg, zinc a@ 25 mg, selenium @200mcg but no copper.  They would be double that amount when I double the dosage.  Are these values sufficient or should they be increased.  I heard there are some components I shouldn't take with other components.   Have you found that to be accurate?  I will add copper asap too.

Here is the vitalady list: http://www.gblcreations.com/Resources/Gina/ProgramDRNY_ERNY_ BPDDS3-2010.pdf

The bad part of taking the A, D, E, and K as part of something is the inability to adjust one without the other. Example, I needed to drop my A down and raise my D...if it had both, not gonna happen. Taking the separate means more control.

I'm an old-timey DS'er (kinda...6.5 years) and was the twelfth DS that my doc did.   His practice originally advised pretty much the amounts you are taking right now, but I think maybe 2,000 iu's of D.    My levels TANKED to nothing by the end of my first year.  I mean TANKED.     It has taken years to correct the damage done.   His practice has now come a long way in upping dosages, but they still fall somewhat short.   I'm thinking off the top of my head here, because I'm sick and am too lazy to go downstairs and check my dosages, but as an example, here's what I take:

Vitamin D - 150,000 iu a day (50 k dry capsule and 100 k rapid dissolve/microlingual)

Vitamin A    100,000 iu

Zinc                     200 mg

Copper                   8 mg  ( I take copper and zinc on alternate days, so 16 mg of copper one day and 400 of zinc the other day)

Vitamin K1            (can't remember the dosage off the top of my head)

Vitamin K2            (again, can't remember  - I do want to add that I was not able to solve my d problems until i started taking the magic combo of K1, K2 (mk-4) and copper

Vitamin E              800 iu

2 multis

3,000 to 5,000 mg of calcium a day - however much I can stuff down myself

1 Super B

5 mg B12

Some people can get by on a fraction of these amounts, most cannot.

Val, I'm curious why dry D3 and A are recommended? Thanks!

I'm not Val but can tell you, We need Dry because normally D, A, E and K are packed in Oil. We do not absorb any kind of fat very well so if you take the oil packed vitamins they will just pass through you without absorbing any.

These were vit's I purchased prior to surgery and the Mega I was taking way before so once they run out I will start purchasing from Vitalady.

I get using up the old stuff and I would too.  Till you use it all up, I would double or triple the multi.  Partly because everyone on plain old multi's has to double or triple the dose.  And next because your doc let you go without supplements for 5 months.  This must be a new thing for him because I never heard about his other patients being told no supplements for 5 months.  Just my opinion, but I think that's very ill advised.

But the real truth of the matter is that most of us would be seriously deficient if we followed the supplement advice handed out by the docs and nuts.  It shouldn't be that way, but it is.
