I would have written him up too. No excuse for being that inconsiderate of your co-workers. Dollars to donuts he is sensitive to gluten, milk or sugar/carbs.

I have not yet returned to work and have huge issues with gas, and this story freaked me out because I work for the same federal agency as this guy. But, then I reread it, and this guy appeared to not care that he had gas that was very bothersome to others. He did not appear to try anything over the counter or seek medical attention despite the complaints. So, I feel better. Plus, I have a private office and not a cubicle, so I will have some control.

Wonder the same thing. The article didn't seem to indicate that the worker offered an medical excuse for his flatulence. Val is right that the "typical" DSer would know how to control flatulence with diet, so this doesn't seem like a typical DS scenario. Still have to wonder.
While I know enough WLS peeps that could definitely qualify, most of them are sensitive to this, and control what they eat, or "tivo" the culprit foods for times or days that it won't matter.
My money is on someone who has been lactose intolerant for life, and has become somewhat insensitive about it.
