Need some advice!

I had surgery 6 days ago and am feeling surprisingly good -- and mine was almost 6 hours and included a band removal too. BUT your mileage may vary. I feel pretty confident I could do the things you mentioned at this point -- provided your children are not screeching wild : ) which it doesn't sound like they are.  I wish you a speedy recovery.

P.S I think its great you want to teach your kids at home. I love learning and the one thing I detested about the school environment was all the hold up to learning in a classroom with other kids that needed the teacher as well. That sounds selfish but I had to do most of my serious learning at home because of that. Also, don't buy into the "socilization" issue either. Obviously anyone can cause their children to be poorly socialized, but seriously, I know so many homeschooled kids that are astonishingly bright, socialized, articulate and interact well with people of any age.
