Calcium & scheduling other vite doses
Hi Gina, I'm glad to hear that you're labs are doing better. I may edge mine back up to 600mg per dose as that'd result in fewer doses.

I've toyed around with MK4 but it's so expensive to take the huge dose recommended for bone health. It's 45mg and it's difficult to find because the half life is so short and the supplement suppliers find MK7 lasts longer--or some such issue. I take Vitalady's MK7 capsules.

Ooops, yes that's a typo. 600mcg a day. I was thinking 1000mcg per capsule like the K1. Thanks. :)

MM, you are the only one I have seen say this. I have asked this question on a FB group but got no answer. It makes sense that DSers should take more calcium at one time because of the malabsorption. But, I have only seen regimens where the most at one time was 600mg. Do we have any idea how much we malabsorb?
I don't know of any study on how much we malabosorb calcium. I only take 2 doses at 900mg all the rest are 600mg 4 times a day for 3600mg. If we malabsorb about 50% that would put us at what most normies need. My labs would bear that out.

I know what a person looks like with a fractured hip. I know I will be taking my 5-6 doses of Calcium every day until I am too senile to do so. I take a digital kitchen timer everywhere I go, including dog shows, and set it for 90 minutes. I have little bitty tupperwares that I sort my Calcium, Magnesium, D and Potassium in and they stack. They fit right in a drink holder in my car or else they are in my purse. Sure I miss a dose now and then, but with a goal of 6 doses a day it doesn't kill me to miss a dose (or miss a whole day if I am sick).
It's just part of what I signed up for. Just like what I eat. The payoff (for today) was going to Kohl's and buying a pair of Sonoma dark blue "trouser" jeans (dressy jeans) in a size 4 for $17 minus 30%. :)

Yes I think I need to get some sort of reminder for my BlackBerry. Time can easily slip by otherwise.

Huneypie, here's what I do, if it will help you any....
.I take most of my vites in two batches: Noon and around 6:00 or 7:00 P.M. On one day I take my Zinc (mostly picolonate) 100mg each time. Then the next day I do copper at each time slot and no zinc. So I alternate days.
My dry A, D,E, Calcium and Mag Citrate I take at about 3 A.M. (pee time) and again when I get up. Then all that's left is to scatter calcium through the day. (I get iron infusions)
