CarbSmart or CarbNotSoSmart?
I've been eating CarbSmart ice cream since 2 or 3 months post op. You have to have some control because soon you'll be able to eat more than 1/2 cup or more.

We only have chocolate and vanilla at our grocery store. I'm partial to the chocolate and my hubby likes the vanilla. Son#2 put peanut butter and chocolate in his vanilla CarbSmart ice cream, We also like the chocolate covered popsicles with almonds, or peanuts, but our grocery store stopped carrying them.

IF you are worried about the carb count, do yourself a BIG favor and pick up the same flavor in both CarbSmart and Beyer's regular (CarbSmart is a Breyer's product). If you compare the two vanilla's, there is a grand whopping ONE carb difference between the two.
CarbSmart Vanilla: 13 grams of carbs, 5 grams of sugar alcohols and 4 grams of sugar
Breyer's Natural Vanilla: 14 grams of carbs, ZERO grams of sugar alcohols.
I'll eat the real thing...if I have it. But then again, I don't eat ice cream much at all.

Some people count net carbs...I do not. Personally that is hocus pocus math. I was an insulin dependent diabetic pre-op and had to use insulin based on every single carb I put in my mouth...So if it had 13 full carbs, I covered with enough insulin for 13 carbs...not the net carb amount.
Now, if you prefer net carbs and sugar alcohols do not give you issues, go for it.
I'll eat the real one.

Learned to stay away from the Carb Smart ice cream because of the sugar alcohols. They are murder! Just not worth it, so would rather have the real thing. As an alternative, Jello Brand Sugar Free Cook and Serve Chocolate pudding made with 1/2 heavy whipping cream and 1/2 water satisfies both the sweet tooth and the chocolate monster. Have it hot or cold.
