Tuesday was horrible. I quit counting my carbs at 100 and didn't get in enough protein. Way to much emotional and stress eating. I have been taking care of friend's son who is 22 months old. She has been in rehab since October 20th. Add to that homeschooling and it has become too much. Add to that that I have not spent enough time in prayer and I fell apart. However, today I woke up to some unexpected extra stress, I had the little guy for 12 hours instead of the 4 I normally have him for, but defeated it with time in prayer and exercise. For me I have found if I don't pray and meditate I give in to the carb monster.
With that said, I had 52 grams of carbs, & 151 grams of protein and got all my water in. I walked 20 minutes and felt amazing doing it. I will post my detailed bites on Thursday. Thanks for always being here.

151 g of protein. That is a successful DS day by any standard. Good job.
Not a good day again. *sigh* I gotta get a grip.
Protein shakes (4) - 104
Whopper patties (2) - 40
Not nearly enough, I know. Should I be trying to up my calories or just worry about getting my protein? There are days I get less than 1200 calories and I don't know if I need to be concerned about that or not...

You had 140+ protein, right? Not bad. Appetite can be lousy after DS - maybe it is the low ghrelin level. As long as you are getting adequate protein, and it seems you are, and getting enough fluids and taking the correct and adequate doses of supplements you should be good to go. Not getting in enough calories, and not absorbing all of the calories you take in is the whole point of the DS. Hang in there. One day a couple of years from now you will be wishing you had your aversion to food back.

Goof luck with your week Gina. Everyone should consider themselves fortunate to be trained by you, imo.
Good day off. Spent with GF mostly cooking (see post about hemp bread. We are quite excited about how good it is. Expecially since learning about how phytic acid interferes with calcium and mineral absorption and labs came back low in calcium and zinc and dexa scan said osteoporosis. So every little advantage in absorbing minerals is good in my book.
Bites:
4 eggs, 2 thick slices of ham
1 cup cottage cheese
1 lb shrimp cooked in butter and garlic
4 strips of bacon
1 bowl egg drop soup, heavy on the egg
2 thick slices Hemp pecan blueberry bread with much butter
8 oz snapper fillet broiled with marinade, garlic, parsely, oregano, parmesaon cheese and bacon crumbles
asparagus with cream cheese made with hemp milk and regualr (cow) cheddar cheese
1/2 cup seasoned rice and black beans
1/2 choc pudding cup
2 more slices Hemp pecan blueberry bread with heavy buttery
Interesting but how can we eat enough wheat and beans to affect our mineral absorption? What do you feel you're eating that's adding too much phytic acid?

Was eating LOTS of nuts - almonds and walnuts and a good amount of soy products. If I ate any grain it was brown rice. And, sadly, cocoa powder - LOTS of cocoa. Have cut out a large amount of those items since keeping closer track of my diet by posting on your daily Bites threads. There was a time that nuts, soy and cocoa was an embarrassingly large part of my diet.
Not wanting to falsely raise an alarm. Only discussing personal choices. Osteoporosis runs in my family so was already at risk. Now have the actual diagnosis AND bad labs even with religious use of supplements. Had already eliminated colas. Will now also be adding weight bearing to my health routine - blech. At this point, every little thing might make an impact deserves consideration, including avoiding as much phytic acid as possible.
There isn't much definitive research or reports available about Phytic Acid. If someone else has something to contribute - especially if it proves that phytic acid isn't going to impact mineral absorption, please share it so the eating of nuts, cocoa and soy may resume.
Below is a chart from http://www.thenourishinggourmet.com/2010/09/phytic-acid-in-nuts-seeds-cocoa-and-coconut.html :
It shows that many nuts, cocoa, brown rice and peanuts have more phytic acid than wheat and beans.
