ds revision/reversal for malnutrition?
i am slowly getting used to the vitalady regime. i can't say i am at 100% but definetly improving! i have not found a shake yet that i really like so my biggest stuggle is to get the shakes in.
my last labs cost $355 i am still paying that off and will not be able to re-do labs again until this is paid off.
i am looking for a good tasting vanilla whey isolate, any suggestions? or a good tasting strawberry? i know if i can make it taste good i will drink it. does anyone know if the bolthouse protein plus drinks 30g protein drinks are a absorbable protein for us? i seem to like the fruit flavor and turn to these ready to drink sources on the run.
thanks :)
The key is to *learn* from this experience. Remember the bad symptoms you had, and learn about and learn to recognize the symptoms of protein malnutrition and vitamin deficiencies.
I have gotten sloppy about protein from time to time, and the first thing I notice is tingling in my lower legs. I get back on track with the protein, and it goes away.
After a serious bout with malnutrition and deficiencies after my Mom passed, whi*****luded a month's worth of iron infusions, I learned to listen to my body, and watch for signs that something is out of whack. My being in school to become a RD has helped, too, because we have to study the signs and symptoms of malnutrition and various deficiencies, what they do to the body, as well as how to correct them using foods and supplements.
Hi, Michele. Vitalady has samples of various types of protein that you can try. There are also a lot of protein shake recipes to make them palatable. My favorite protein powder is Dymatize Elite. They have lots of flavors.
I found that when I was protein malnourished, I was very nauseous and vomited a lot. I couldn't down any type of protein shake. Once my numbers got near normal, I was able to drink shakes easily.
You're 5 years out, so I don't see why you would need a revision. I believe that with supplements and maybe even TPN, you should be back on the mend in no time.
Hang in there!

I'm not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV or on here...
I have gone through moderate protein calorie malnutrition, and yes, this can be reversed with proper nutrition and supplements, provided it is caught in time.
I have labs every six months, so it is easy to spot things that are out of whack, before they get to a point where major medical intervention is needed.
The worst I got was over the summer, which immediately follwed the six month period that my Mom delcined in health and passed away. I had a month's worth of iron infusions.
Don't beat yourself up, just get back on track and do what you need to do to get your levels back to normal, and if that means TPN or PPN, go for it!
hey, thanks. my dr. will not do the vitalady recommended labs. he does check the obvious ones vites and protein and iron. but i cant get him to check All the vitalady recommended levels. since my ins. wont pay for them, i have to wait till may for a recheck. which will be around 6 months from my last lab. dang insurance!
no revision or reversal is necessary according to him. so we are on the way with my new vitamin regime and added protein to see if things are turned around! i am feeling much better. some of my side effects could be from medication i am taking for sleep. im pretty sure i have an ulcer not sure how i got it but i suspect it was from one of the medications i was on and i just stopped taking it so i am going to see if the ulcer goes away.
i was thinking all these vitamins could be causing my stomach this harm? i am going to do another post and see if anyone experienced ulcers from the vites. i guess i just have one of those tender tummies!
thanks again :)
