Hi all,

I got out of the hospital today. I'm trying to drink but I know I'm not getting all my fluds in. I'm not real worried about today becuase i had a bag of fluids before i was discharged. I've had no gas pain at all yet, that seems strange to me I sure hope it doesnt hit the day I fly home. My pain meds are liquid which are going to cause an issue on the flight home. Did anyone else have liquid pain meds. Sorry if I'm not making much sense I'm still a bit zombie like.

Hydrocodone liquids post surgery are the norm for my HMO's hospital.  Try to get a note from your doctor's office to CYA with the TSA.  But normally liquid medications with prescription labels are given a pass at security.  I've had zero issues traveling with my insulin.

Starting tomorrow, you have two jobs.....drink and pee.  That's all you'll have energy for, and 64oz is your goal.

Congrats!  I flew internationally for my DS with my mom.  I did not have any trouble with flying with all her meds.  I flew home just fine too with anticoagulant injections in my purse.

Welcome to your new life.  Call your airline and ask about how to handle the liquid medications.  Liquids can certainly fly  in checked baggage, but you can't keep an eye on it that way.  Maybe get written prescription to fill when you get home.

Hi Trish, Welcome to the D.S. life. !!!  ;-)

I had lots of trouble drinking, and couldn't swallow pills for a few weeks. Warm liquids felt best, protein broths, tea, protein hot chocolate, protein coffee w/ heavy cream or 1/2 & 1/2. Walk, sip, snack on protein. Every day gets better and better, I promise.  Best wishes for a complication free recovery.  ;-)

Sandra

I've only drank water at room temp so far and that I seem to tolerate better then cold. I think I will give a try to some hot things today. I'm here in MI until Thursday. The only reason I was worried about the liquid pain meds was becasue the bottle is so darn big and I know I will need some before i get home it took me 9 hours to get out here. I think some protein cocoa sounds pretty good guess I'll go give it a try.

Thanks all,

Trish

It doesn't matter how big your bottle of pain meds is. TSA has to let it through as long as it has the Rx label on it. You can carry it in your purse so you have it when you need it. So don't worry about it.
