Trying to convince myself it's real this time....

I've had so many failed attempts to lose weight over the years that it's hard to grasp the fact that it's ok to buy smaller clothes.  My current clothes are getting really baggy.  But I still look the same to myself.  LOL!    In the past I would buy smaller clothes only to have to give them away weeks later because my weight had returned.  I won't be buying much either way because I still have A LOT of weight to lose.  I'm just trying to come to peace with the fact that "it's actually happening this time".

I'm going to try on some smaller clothes this weekend.  Hopefully it'll help me see my own progress.

I was just talking to my counselor about this issue last week.  I still haven't gotten rid of the clothes that are too big, even though I know I'll never need them again.  I just can't get beyond the past failures.  I'm still afraid deep down that I'll need those clothes again.

Goodwill is a wonderful place to work your way down the sizes.

It's a tough one to get past.  I saved a favorite suit of mine as I went down 3 sizes before I finally let go of it.

I was having some self image issues after losing the weight. My friend finally brought to my attention that I have not gotten any new clothes!!1 I am in the process of throwing away old clothes and accepting my new size Medium in tops and 10/12 pants.... I still have some items that its too hard to part with. I am a work in progress though!!!

I'm not seeing the changes either but people at work have commented that I need to buy smaller clothes so I guess 63 pounds is starting to show after all.  I have gotten rid of the biggest clothes but I've been stalled for the last 12 days and am in between sizes so I don't quite want to get rid of the next batch yet.  I do need to go buy a new winter coat because I am looking lost in mine...

How many times in our lives did we wish for this problem instead of my clothes don't fit because they are too small.   Just loving my DS.

You are in a good place.  Enjoy shopping this weekend.  My money is on how surprised you will be at the smaller sizes you can wear.

Don't buy much!  How do you feel about 2nd hand stuff?  You could get good quality stuff for cheap - just clean well first kiss. and buy snug kiss.  You are going to lose so much more.

I found that people even gave me lots of stuff that they held wishing they could wear.  God provided for me - I found this lady or she found me selling clothes on a corner 2 blocks away from my home.  They were sample size 6& 8's and she would tell me what was coming and save just for me.  These were new things and she knew my situation so she sold at $5- & $8-.  Super fly good quality stuff.  It was awesome!  At the Good Will I donated bags and bags of my really nice looking "big clothes".  I was a Lane Bryant Girl and I had a ton of clothes.  Awesome stuff.  It was nice to see it hanging up and available to others who needed it at a low price.  That was so cool to see my stuff that  on a dare I went through their racks and got some beautiful higher end designer skirts & dresses in my petite little size.  I don't know how many compliments I got on my clothes.  I got to admit I looked real cute.  I've had a bounce back and I can't wait to fit into those clothes again!  I am a Band to Sleeve revision and always a work in progress.

Wish I could give you some good manly advise about mens clothing but I know not.  The only thing I do know is that it is very expensive to replace every single item in your wardrobe - even undergarments.  So unless you have a money tree in your backyard you may want to find out some cost effective ways of replacing your wardrobe.  Oh, and definately have at least a couple of items that fit you or make alterations with belts or whatever you need to.  Clothes look so ridiculous on us when they start to swim on our bodies . . . sometimes we don't notice because the change is just crazy.

All Best,

Layla
