Hernia information - sorry this is so long....;

Background information:

I am almost 2 1/2 years post op.  I had a pretty much normal surgery/recovery.  My last laps showed all "normal" ranges, but were trending down on a few, so I upped the dosage on those a little bit.  Dr. Kemmeter did repair a hernia during my DS surgery, which I was unaware I had.  I am 5' tall and currently 125 lbs.

Now onto the problem and questions:

About a 2 months ago I was reorganizing my closet and was reaching and pulling and doing "normal" things.  Nothing out of the ordinary.  About 20 minutes into this job I noticed a weird pulling feeling in my stomach that was uncomfortable enough to make me stop.  The next day the pain was gone.

It has happened a few more times over the past 2 months.   Last night it happened again.  Right after I got up from the table from eating dinner, I noticed the pulling or tearing feeling in my stomach again.  It is about 2 inches to the right of my belly button.  I took a hot shower to try to ease the pain and that helped marginally.  I noticed when I stood upright, I felt like I had to hunch over to ease the pulling/tearing feeling.  When I sat or laid down the pain was still there too.  I went to bed and woke up this morning almost all better.  The weird pulling/tearing feeling is gone and now there is only a slight uncomfortable feeling in that same side by my ribs.

Could this be a hernia or does anyone have any other thoughts?

That's probably what it is.  Sorry!   The doc will be able to tell by size and location if you need to fix it now or it can wait.

I managed to give myself one.  It's a softball-sized lump to the left of my bellybutton.  Hurt like a b*tch when I first did it and for a couple weeks after, now it only hurts when I cough or sneeze.  I can have it fixed in a year or so (yay, tummy tuck!).  Have your doctor check it out.  That's always best.

i have a incision hernia , had it checked out by a hernia specialist any NYU,  he said to wait until it rupture thru the wall that is weakening, that the problem is that the entire muscle is stretched and to layer mesh over my entire stomach and attach it firmly to fix one spot is a really big operation, better to wait for it to be NESSCESARY TO FIX,  that it may never come to that.

spandex tee shirts work well for me

I have similar issues but not as severe. Good to know what it most likely is. I thought I would have had an incisional hernia since I didn't have a hernia prior to the operation but 2" right of my navel is where it is starting to hurt.
