Extreme Nauseau and Vomiting after revision to DS..Anyone???

Anyone experience extreme Nauseau and dry heaving (vomiting) after their DS??  I am having a TERRIBLE time...throwing up two to three times a day it seems to be getting worse.  Talked to the surgeon and the Nauseau was caused by dehydration..I got that under control only to start with the vomiting next!!  I am totally useless!  I can't eat it is a vicious cycle I am so sick to my stomach that even water makes me gag.

Any suggestions??  Has anyone run into this?? Is this going to be this way forever!!!  I would have rather lived with the band!!

Yes some have run into that problem.  Call your surgeon because this is unacceptable and there might be something wrong, such as a restriction or some other problem that your surgeon could fix.  Otherwise, two suggestions: Prilosec 20mg morning and night and get a prescription for Zofran for nausea.  That worked for me. YMMV

An IV will have you feeling better quickly.  Vomiting is not normal, so insist on further investigation.

Don't guzzle drink small sips of fluid.  What ever works for you.  Nexium twice a day not all at once.  Zofran. Stomach problem went away around 6 months mark

Good Luck

Zantac twice a day worked wonders for me.

I was nauseated for about 6 weeks and someone told me to try zantac and i could see a huge difference in 2 days

Hi, I hope you are feeling better, its sounds like you were having a terrible time of it....   I was just wondering how you are doing now?  Im considering going with Dr. aceves for the ds surgery.  I couldnt tell if that was who performed your ds surgery, or not.

You talked about having him do it, but then on your profile it has another surgeon listed.  Anyways, just curious if your feeling better, and are happy with your decision.....

Hi, I am so sorry!  I have been so far behind in emails and such and I just saw this!!!!!  So I do apologize.

I did have Dr. Aceves do my DS surgery...the month after was rough as I was dehydrated!  My own fault!  I am just a little over 5 mths out (surgery was october 20th).  I am down 71lbs! In the 5 mths!  I feel GREAT!!!  I would do it again in a heartbeat!!!!  I can't express how happy I am!

Dr. Aceves and Dr. Ungson performed my lap-band to DS conversion so I had two awesome surgeons working on me!  I had Literally NO PAIN afterwards!  I had so much pain when I had my band done that I couldn't walk for several days after!  I was walking the next day down the hall way and such.  I was tired, very tired and I slept alot and napped due to the anesthesia but no pain I could not believe it to be honest!  The care there is BEYOND anything you could imagine in the states.  I and my daughter who went with me were literally FLOORED by the cleanliness alone..no hospital stench like here.  Dr every few hours, nurses all the time at your beckon call!  It was truly a fabulous trip.  I would do it all over again if need be.

When I say I am happy with my decision...Totally, completely thrilled beyond comprehension!!!  I have been obese all my life and this is just what I needed to help me out.  It is a battle with food still but NO WHERE near what I had before..I crave protein instead of sugar..no soda cravings (even diet) nothing...I feel incredible and it would be the best decision you have ever made I can promise you that!

I hope this helped and I look forward to hearing from you in your decision making!  I promise not to take so long getting back too!!!

Beth
