Not ever normal again but learning your way through the maize will be a challenge!  I hope the best for you!  Just remember, at the end of the rainbow is a pot of gold (meaning the weight loss).  Management of that goal and keeping your labs up is the lifetime challenge.

Hugs!!!

It is also possible that the antibiotics have caused overgrowth of "bad" bacteria in your colon, or that they have caused infection with C diff.

Let your doctor know about this problem, and get tested for C diff.

I am 1 week post op for a revision from band to DS.

I was hospitalized after dehydration due to some lovely uncontrolled diarrhea 3 days out.

Not to gross: But we are talking 15 -25 episodes a day.  I was pounding in water to compensate, but couldn't keep up and ended in the ER.

They gave me 3 bags of saline, liquid oral potassium chloride, in the ER.  My surgeon said to take pepto bismal to help.  I've gone through half a bottle in the last two days and my episodes have reduced to 5 episodes a day. (Manageable)

I had an overgrowth of bad bacteria that caused constant explosive diarrhea for 5.5 months.  I did two rounds of Flagyl after testing for C diff and other stool labs.  I finally started on Chia seeds and it really helped.  If you can take probiotics that should help, but you need to kill off the bad bacteria first, then repopulate your guts with the probiotic.

Immodium fixed me right up early out.  Be sure to share with the doc what effects you're having.  They may be able to switch you to something else, and I concur with Larra's suggestion of being tested for cdiff.  In the meantime, eat yogurt about an hour or two after taking the antibiotics, and keep drinking.

I agree, get tested for C-diff.    After that, you can take probiotics at the mid-point between antibiotics doses.  Bananna = good.  Skinless baked potato also.

Hope you feel better soon. ;o)
