Splenda (Sucralose), Equel (Aspartame), Sweet n Low (Saccharin)

I was just wondering. If I use products with Equel, I have more gurgles than with any other type artificial sweetener. I had not had anything with it until using Krystal Light today (after not using it for a week). I've had nothing but Stevia, Splenda or SweetnLow for the last week. Today - Here came the gurgles. I'm trying to put two and two together. The NP at the Surgeon's office, says to stay away from Splenda, yet protein shakes have it. I haven't had any gurgles since last weekend (which is the last time I used KL). Anyone else noticed this?
Does anyone know why the NP would be so against it? She cannot be nailed down for an answer. She pushes Equel but won't say exactly why.
I use Stevia at home in whatever I drink.
Splenda is fine for me as well as Truvia (Stevia). I can't do Equal for the same reason as you.

They probably dont push Splenda because the company that makes it doesn't have a sales rep come in there.
Servicing doctors by leaving samples is a marketing tool for pharmaceutical companies, and one of those companies makes Equal - McNeal Nutritionals. It's a food subsidiary of the pharmaceutical company. They have recently started producing all three artificial sweeteners, adding saccharin (pink), and sucralose (yellow) to their classic aspartame (blue),

Don't know why the NP would advise against Splenda. Haven't had that problem with Equal, but switched to Splenda because Equal gets bitter when heated. Found Stevia to cause problems and assume it is because it is or has erythritol (sp?).

Puppysweet-
For years, there has been a warning not to use equal in hot drinks or in cooking, because when it is heated it turns into a poison. Splenda is safe for hot foods and drinks, and for baking. So is stevia, but it has a bitter aftertaste to me.
You can probably find the information about Equal online. I'll go look for something and post it.
Here's a link to a good no-nonsense article about *all* of the artificial sweeteners:

Jazzyone, back in the day there was no Splenda or sucralose so Equal was the sweetener. Butt had the disadvantage of not being able to cook with it, so was very glad when Splenda hit the market. Thanks for the link.

Yep, I remember when Equal came out. Before Equal, there was saccharin, and in manufactured food and beverages, cyclamate, until they took it off the market due to cancer risk. I think they might have brought it back briefly, then took it off again.
I did my share of Equal before the FDA warnings, but I stopped using it after that, and made sure that anything I purchased was not using it as a sweetener. I still read labels for it now, and will not buy products that use aspartame.
