Why not too long? I have bought enough zinc for the higher dose for three months. My surgeon was quite concerned about my zinc levels and said it can cause hairloss. I have blood work due mid December. TIA.

Long term high doses of zinc can mess up your copper levels.  You may lose hair regardless of your vitamins this time around. Ketosis and the stress of surgery may cause initial hair loss and there's nothing you can do about it. If you have hair loss later on it could be low protein, iron, or zinc. What I would do it try to take your zinc separate from other vitamins and minerals for a few months and retest.

OK, so a couple of hours apart from another batch then. I'll give that a try. I have so much to learn and I really appreciate the time you take to help (not just directly to me also in posts to others as I try and soak that up too).

BTW I really don't think I'll lose any hair, my hair's way too thick and I just recently got it thinned when I last had it cut. People say anesthetic causes hair loss, well I've had a dozen general anesthetics (mainly due to fractures and my nose; polyps, deviated septum, etc) and it's never happened not even when I got sleeved and weight. If it were to happen though there are some really cute wigs around so I'd give that a try.

I agree with your doubts about anesthesia causing hair loss, but a few folks do so I listed it. I never lost hair from other surgeries either. I think mine was all ketosis post DS. If you read Dr Atkins diet followers' blogs you'll see the same thing when people go into ketosis.

I doubt I'm in ketosis as I'm not strict enough with carbs, although I have lost 3.25lb so far this week - woo hoo!! Last week was only a .25lb loss - drinking Bailey's obviously wasn't a good thing, but while on hol it was hard to satisfy my sweet tooth (no tiramisu, etc).

A 0.25lb loss isn't too shabby while on hol I guess - I remember a holiday years ago, pre-WLS where I had these massive salads (carrots, lettuce, tomatoes, etc no avocado) and I'd pour on vinegar, no fat and I generally was well behaved for a 'normie', and I gained 4lbs in 10 days, so I can't complain!!

Think I'm going to update my signature tomorrow when I update my ticker for the Sunday weigh and add 'I love my DS' I said I'd do it when I hit 30lbs lost, which I just did!!

BTW I just ordered some Dry E (400 IU) and am going to purchase some vitamin C to take with my night time liquid iron in an attempt to improve my absorption of that. I really am doing my best to listen and learn, so please just keep being you
