I'm so sick of eating.  Nothing sounds good and when I force myself to eat, I end up eating junk because it  *sounds* better than good stuff (but it's not).  Does anyone else get that way?  What do you do, live on protein shakes for awhile?

I guess that's why I do protein shakes so much. Thinking up food to eat for every meal is way overrated to me--I'm still ticking. lol

Take out!! I've done Burger King to death (a whole variety of burgers without the bun over many weeks), I'm on a crispy duck phase at the mo, I did Subway chicken salads to death (mostly pre-DS). I haven't got bored of full English breakfast yet but I only have those on the weekend (I got bored of the McDonald's double sausage egg McMuffin's with bacon).

I have to get better at making these cream cheese pancakes - they're delish and thankfully DH is good at making them (he just doesn't do it enough!!) http://www.ibreatheimhungry.com/2012/01/cream-cheese-pancakes.html

So to answer your question, I've never had a protein shake. I can't touch powdered milk - it makes bloated/gassy and gives me terrible cramps and diarrea.

Hi,

I wanted to say that I can relate to this. Nothing I eat tastes right to me. I am so sick of my proteins - eggs, chicken and tuna - but it is not just those food it seems everything just feels wrong. I have been trying to drink more and more protein drinks. One to keep up the protein levels and also just because I can get them down and they don't make me feel sick. I am hoping this is just a phase that will pass.

Just wanted to know someone understands.... Thanks, Terri

Hey Terri,

There are days when I really don't want any food at all (nearly at my 3 mo out mark).  I don't like the milky shakes  (they do not sit well with my system).  I spent a small fortune on nearly every brand out there (before and after surgery). Once I tried Unjury, it has really changed my life.  It doesn't have that "twang" of the milky shakes.  I had a couple of days this week that "NOTHING" tasted good.  I was able to get in water/ice & 3 or 4 protein shakes.  I still struggle with eggs.  Before surgery, I ate nothing but fish ~ fresh or tuna from a can on a grilled sandwich etc - EVERYDAY.  Now, I cannot take Tuna.  Now, I can eat Shrimp & Tilapia (which I didn't like before surgery).  Before surgery, I LOVED CHEESE!  All kinds - now, I struggle with it.  In fact, I no longer will buy it to keep in the fridge because it goes to waste.  Then about 3 weeks ago, I could eat steak.  I couldn't eat a burger minus bun (someone shared that it was because it's much harder to digest - the thought of it makes me sick).  I ate a steak everyday or every other day for 2 weeks.  It did help my protein to come from behind.  I know you've had a rough time (sounds like much worse than me).  If memory serves me correctly, you were a conversion from an RNY.  If you have a bad day, don't beat yourself up too much!  None of us are perfect (me especially), although I'm accused of being superwoman (LOL!)  My struggles with this surgery have been physically draining and mentally draining.  I'm halfway to what I want to lose.  What the original goal was...  It didn't matter though, because I never felt good - the last week, things have taken a turn for me.  I'm doing better every day!  My issues are not over though, I know that now.  It's ok, I will figure it all out.

Do not be discouraged.   You can do this!  You can get through it!  You will succeed!

This board has some of the kindest sweetest people on this planet who have gone before us and are willing to give their time to help us newbies out!  For them, I am grateful!!!

All the best!

Thanks for the kind words. I will try Unjury because you are not the first person to say it is a good option. I am trying to sample different dishes (protein heavy of course) in the hopes I will stumble upon something I like. I saw the recipe for Cream Cheese Pancakes and will give those a try. Right now there is a crustless Quiche loaded with ham and bacon I can tolerate.

Best of luck to us both :-) Thanks so much, Terri

Very nice Bites.

I remember my zinc went kind of haywire my first year or so post-op. It finally came up a bit and has settled in the middle of the range. No idea why that might happen but don't stay on the high dose too long.
