FIGURING OUT THE VITAMIN DOSES

I can see that there is a wide range in the vitiamin programs I have seen on this forum and elsewhere. I am trying to get stocked up now before surgery in less than 2 weeks!

My question is:  Do you count the vitamins in the multi formulas into the totals - or just take those and add the additional doses to reach the recommended totals?

For instance, I am looking at my doctor's list and I need 2000IU Vitamin D.  Well, the multi taken 3 x a day meets that amount - so do I add 2000IU or am I covered?

In general, most of us vets tend to consider the multi as a gap filler. It's used to fill in any gaps our other supplements aren't meeting.

ADEK are best taken separately and dry and NOT counted from those in the multi.

I would get a Dry D3 like this:

That's a 50k IU dry which is twice you were recommended but I'd hazard a guess your list doesn't have adequate values of most things anyway.

The multi gives us the little fillers, however it's not nearly enough D, A, E or K.  I take an additional 50,000 iu of D, and an additional 25,000 iu of A.  I forget the amounts of K and E, but I take them all seperately.

I guess this all becomesmore clear after the first and subsequent labs.  for now I am going to start with the levels the Vitalady suggests, rather than the ones my surgeon suggests.

Vitalady's pack is a great one.  As you become more knowledgeable about your labs, you may choose to tweek on your own and find ways to save money.

I'm planning on ordering Vitalady's Deficiency Pack as my daily regimen.  At least until it's used up. then make sure my labs are optimal before switching to the DS Pack.

Can't do it until next month though, I spend all funds on buying defieciency- fixers as separate vitamins in the higher potencies (A25,000, D 50,000 E 800 K1 - 2,000 mcg K2 - 1,000 mcg, zinc, calcium/magnesium citrates w D (8 daily)  4 multis.  I do 2 -28 oz blender bottles of protein shakes daily. Iit seems like a lot, but it seems to be working.  I'll know in December, next set of full labs.
