Revision nightmare: Switching surgeons: Rant
I just needed a place to vent and didn't want to trouble the people in my life with my emotional roller coaster...
Ive been in the process of having a revision over 2 years now and i think it was pretty much decided today that I am going to go ahead with a different surgeon.
I am sooooooooooooooo beyond frustrated and just plain ol pissed off I barely know what to do with what I am feeling. I understand at the end of the day this is a business but I've been living my own personal hell for over two years and between my surgeons office and the governent ( my insurance provider) am just depleted of anything. I know we are all our own advocates but my gosh I feel like I need a business manager of lawyer for all the crap Ive had to deal with and in the end my health is the last of everyones concerns.
On another note I'd love to hear from Dr. K patients particularly revision patients :) I've spoken to him once already and he was very nice and helpful.

I'm not a Dr. K patient but I did switch surgeons late in the process (all preop testing had been completed and was just waiting on one more NUT visit before they would submit to insurance. It did delay the process a little bit, the new doc wanted cardiology clearance while the prior one didn't require it, but I think it was a really good decision for me. Hopefully you'll experience the same. Good luck.
Hi,
I am a Dr. K Patient currently in the process. I traveled from San Francisco to meet him. He is wonderful ..amazing really. To date I have found his office to be helpful, friendly and compassionate.
All tests are complete and they are going to submit to insurance later this week.
He is busy but that is because he is good and in demand. You will not be sorry. This is your life you are talking about and if you have any suspicion or inkling a different surgeon is warranted then I say trust your instincts.
Best,
Whit

My issue isnt with my original surgeon so much as his practice. I have never spoken to him directly even given two years of complications. im always dealing with his staff where as Dr K has called me personally and I am not even his patient.
In the beginning i felt like just getting the procedure was so much i should never say anything but the after care is equally important and when you suffer and its still not given full and immediate attention it flips something in you.
I got into an email battle last week with my surgeons office lol granted ill be the first to say I dont take crap from anyone usually but it was pretty unprofessional from everyone ive shown the messages to and it still got me nowhere which is why i decided to contact Dr K.

Dr.K is AMAZING!! He did my RNY to DS revision in Dec 2010. He has excellent bedside manner, ensure you are fully informed and ALWAYS calls you back. He even took my call at midnight on New Years Eve when he was with his family because of issues I was having. Great man!!
I totally recommend him!
I flew from South FL to CA to have him do my revision and I would do it again in a heartbeat.
This man saved my life in more ways than one.
You can't go wrong with this one!
