what city are they located in, did you travel to them, how long in hospital, could you get released on your own to fly home? did PCP do your follow up or did you have to travel back to him?
Their contact information is at DSFacts.com. Dr, Keshishian is in Glendale and Dr. Rabkin is in the San Franscisco area.
I flew out on a Sunday. Met with Dr. K on Monday, did pre op stuff on Tuesday, surgery on wednesday and released from the hospital on Sunday. I had to stay in the area about 10 days then flew home. My pCP did my followup although I stayed in contact via phone and email with Dr. K. At 6 wks, after talking to Dr. K, I pulled my own feeding tube.
I went back to see him at 6 months and and hope to make it this year for my 2 yr follow up. He has always been available if I had a problem, a concern or just wanted to check in with him.

I'm not a revision, but like many DSers, I traveled to get my DS. My PCP has done about 99% of my follow-up---I saw my surgeon's NP at 2 months and 6 months post-op. My surgeon then RETIRED, and I saw his replacement at 18 months out. Since then, my PCP has ordered all my labs, etc.
BUT---I was her very first DS patient (she'd never even HEARD of the DS until then) and mostly I've educated her about what DSers need. Fortunately, she doesn't suffer for the God complex so many MDs do---she's able to see me as an intelligent adult, capable of understanding as much about my body as she does. (*grin*)
Having a great revision surgeon is immensly important---for surgery. Having an open-minded PCP is equally important, for follow-up care for the rest of your life.

Hello,
I used Dr. Rabkin in San Francisco at St. Marys. See www.paclap.com. Both of them are excellent from what I have read. Thanks, Terri
