Protein Shakes - Adding ingredients

So, I have been very consistent to have a protein shake when I first wake up (this is helping my nausea) rather than waiting until after I have a shower. Last week I used blueberries and spinach, with no problems.
I have a two fold question.
1. What ingredients do you add that you like (anyone tried whole grains)?
2. I made mine this AM, like normal except I added the capsule ingredients of the vitamins. Low and behold, it came up about 1/4 of the way through. I just added a few blueberries this AM w/unjury unflavored, creme and almond milk and the tip of a banana. The only thing I can figure is that I must have some sort of allergy to the vitamins. Which is what one of my other Dr's thinks could be with my problem with cramping when I take them. I know I can take the Vit A & Calcium (I picked up the Calcet small caplets). When it comes to anything else, my body rejects them. So, I went back and made a protein shake without anything and I'm drinking it just fine.
Anyone have any ideas?

The only thing I add to my shakes is coffee and cream. I've never attempted to put vitamins in them---the very idea of doing that makes me want to vomit! I can't imagine how you made it through half of one without doing it. Yuck!
I seriously doubt you are allergic to anything in the vitamins. I think you are just thinking about it too much and stressing about it. How far out are you?
If you take one capsule AFTER drinking your shake, does it come up?
Also, you don't have to complicate things. You've got an entire lifetime left to experiment. It sounds like you are really new which means that you just need to pace yourself a bit.

Coffee does sound good!
Yes, the Dr's multi & calcium (from the Dr's ofc) are the culprits. If I drink a shake then take them, the same thing. I have a lot of allergies (A LOT). Had allergy shots for 8 yrs when I was a kid. I have only had a problem with one brand of vitamins ever. It's got to be something in his, they are private label
I can take the A with no problem. Now that I have the Calcet, I can take it with no problem. The other two, I have tried every which way possible.
I asked the nurse about Celebrate vitamins, she told me no. Celebrate shakes are ok?

As for protein shakes, just do what you need to make them taste good and get them down. You need your protein.
I wouldn't do the celebrate products. They are good but expensive and you need a lot more of them than regular vitamins.
VitaLady has a capsule multi if you want a capsule, it's much cheaper. I usually just take two costco multi's plus all my other vitamins.
I'd stop taking the Dr's private label pill if it's making you sick but you need to find something that doesn't make you sick.
I (and others) answered your questions on vitamins the other day ....review them!

If you are taking somekind of acid inhibitor like prilosec, you should take that on an EMPTY STOMACH and wait at least a 1/2 hour before eating anything. This might make all the difference for your nausea. You could set alarm, take pill, sleep some more. Some people need to take this med morning and night so you might try that and see if it helps.
Add good tasting things (not vitamins) to protein drinks. Personally hate coffee so never use that, but lots of people do. Experiment with sugar free jello powder and different flavors of instant SF pudding. Maybe you could try that for a variety of flavors and not worry about adding actual fruit right now.
My choice is chocolate protein powder mix. One of my favorite things to add is about 1/6 of a package of instant sugar free chocolate pudding mix because it makes it taste so much better - also makes it very thick - so use a spoon. I mix my protein powder with half heavy whipping cream and half water. Sometimes use a squirt of hersheys chocolate syrup makes the protein drink more appetizing to me.Over the past few months I've been adding some flax seed and chia seeds - not a lot or it doesn't taste good and gets too thick. I always drink at least a cup of water after taking seeds and don't necessarily recommend it for your postop stage.
You are early out so focus on getting in your protein however you can do it.
