another question about cooking bacon
I was reading Wings' post about cooking bacon without the greasy mess
http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/DS/4571264/HELP-Cooking-Ba con/ and I was wondering if I could cook it on the grill outside on foil?
Anybody have any tips for this?
I could really get alot cooked at once on the grill and then freeze it. I'm not too crazy about smelling up my microwave by cooking bacon in it. Smells in my microwave just seem to linger forever! And I would rather not have everything else I cook in there taste like bacon.

I don't see why you couldn't do it on the grill, that sounds like a good idea though, I would just make sure you sort of make a pan out of the foil so if there is any greese it doesn't drip down onto your fire or what ever kind of grill you have. The only thing I would worry about is everybody in your neighborhood coming over for some bacon :).
i feel the same way. the smell of bacon lingers in my house for the entire day. i swear, i can still smell it when i get up at midnight to take my iron pill (lol)
hubs tried to cook a package on the grill. used heavy duty foil. what a disaster. burnt and raw all on the same piece. think we need to lower the flame a bit and try again.
let me know if you have success.

I normally just use a ton of paper towels and microwave it. I have never tried it on the grill mostly because I wouldn't want to deal with cooking bacon outside in the morning. If I wanted to have bacon on hand all the time I'd just buy a bag of the pre-cooked bacon at Costco.
I'm baking a tray of bacon in the oven right now, it's the yummy thick cut bacon from Trader Joe's. It takes a bit longer to cook and does not microwave well at all.

after cooking bacon in microwave you might try putting a cup of vinegar water in there and boiling it for a few minutes then wiping down the inside surfaces. My mom uses water with Dawn dish soap. Both approaches seem to remove the lingering bacon odor.

The thick cut bacon from TJ's took FOREVER to bake. I ended up having to flip it once to get the other side done and I also ran each side under the broiler a few minutes to brown it. I believe all in all it was in the oven about an hour. Yikes!
I should have had jerky by then but it was still perfectly soft. Note to self, get cheap bacon for making in the oven, not the nice thick expensive kind. ;)
But, it was dang tasty, I ate the entire package for lunch.
