Is Dr Aceves vetted to operate solo yet?

He's not on DSfacts yet and I thought it'd take longer for him to be able to do the DS alone. I thought the deal was Aceves + Ungson for now or Dr Ungson alone??

Just trying to get my facts straight? TIA

I think at this point you can still get Aceves plus Ungson, but I was told by Dr. Aceves that Ungson was assisting. I know that I will likely get blasted for this, but even if Aceves isn't on the vetted list yet, I would go to him again in a hearbeat, even if Ungson wasn't there. He is amazing.

I'm sure if you called his office you could find out how many DS's he has done

I've been hearing good things about Aceves, but before I'd choose him for a DS, I'd ask him some questions re how many surgeries, complication rates, etc., and I'd want to talk to some post-ops. (Actually, I'd do that for any surgeon I was considering.)

Thanks, I was just curious when several recommended Aceves on Teyab's "I am investigating having a DS in Mexico" thread. I'm sticking with Ungson's the only one for now in that case.

Good luck getting anywhere with Dr. Ungson's office. I tried for 2 months. I am now scheduled with Dr. A ceves for next month. The office is very responsive to all questions and I had a long conversation with them re: Dr. Ungson. They said Dr. U comes in for the more compliated surgeries like the revisions.

I don't understand what role DSfacts takes in these recommendations?

I'm already switched so not seeking a surgeon.

DSfacts helps us find a good surgeon. There are lots if charlatons out there. This surgery is risky in the wrong hands.

So who runs DSfacts and how have they become he people who determine the good surgeons? Since I am planning to go with Dr. Aceves, I am concerned to know if there is information I have not yet found which should change my plan.

Well looking at the vets on DSfacts, some of them are now on Proboards. Google WLS and proboards, you'll find them and can post there.
