I will be 3 months out on September 29th. I find that eating makes me feel sick. So I am either hungry or feeling sick. I am NOT eating too big of portions. I still use baby spoons and I cut things up tiny. I do not eat "bad" foods....try to just eat protein. But even the smell of food makes me a little sick. So it is a frustratng situation to be in. I am not drinking before, during or after meals.
Does anyone have any advice? I've hit another plateau and I can't help but think it's because I'm not eating enough? I hate this chronic feeling of malaise. :(

Have you tried protein shakes? Have looked at the daily bites n vites thread, you may get some ideas there.
Lowish BMI? See Lightweights Board! Lightweight Creed For more on DS see www.DSfacts.com

First of I would check and see if I'm getting in enough FLUIDS. not enough fluids can make you feel nauseous and it can also make you feel like you are hungry.
Also a PPI for acid can make you feel better. Having GERD can make you feel like that too.
So no matter what make sure you get your fluids in.
If still in doubt, call the doctor. That's what they are there for.

Herman, thanks--i have GERD and I am definitely not getting my fluids in. Mainly b/c I'm not supposed to eat before/during/after meals.....so it's hard to get them in.
I take an acid reducer daily.....but sometimes not until the afternoon.

You might be someone who needs the acid reducter twice daily, some people do. Or, you might do better with a different acid reducer. There is no way to know unless you try. You could discuss this with either your surgeon or your pcp and see if they would prescribe something different for you.
Regarding fluids, the advice you have been given to not drink before/during/after meals is RNY advice. DS'ers can drink with meals, though at the early stages, where you are, I would just try little sips and see how you do. Keep in mind that lots of surgeons/clinics give the exact same advice to people with both operations, even though they are really very different operations with different anatomy.
I struggled with eating for several months after surgery also. My surgeon insisted on an upper endoscopy just to make sure I didn't have a stricture. We found...nothing! Perfect DS anatomy. Eventually the problems resolved, so hopefully time is on your side, but if things just don't get better, discuss a work-up with your surgeon.
