I drink one diet coke every day. Everyone takes risks in life...I choose diet coke as mine

 Thanks Shann,

I love diet Dr. Pepper and if I have one a day, I think I will be okay.  I am having a revision from RNY to DS.

I will keep you posted on how I do.

Thanks,
Esther

I drink 1-3 cans of Diet Coke a day. I waited about 6 months after my DS to have one, though, because I was afraid solmething evil woudl happen. Nothing evil happened!

I was told that fountain drinks are better for us because they are watered down.  I love Diet Dr. Pepper.  Did you gain any weight back Nicolie?

Thanks,
Esther

Diet soda is no more dangerous for you post-op than pre-op---but ti really isn't a 'healthy' thing to put into your body. In fact, 'diet' soda just may be worse for you than 'regular' sodas.

I rarely drink soda, but when I do, I have The Real Thing, Coke Classic. (*grin*)

I was told that fountain drinks are better because they are watered down whereas canned pop has more sodium and carbonation.  I will try it but if it disagrees with me or causes me pain, I will not drink it.

Thanks,
Esther

I've NEVER been able to drink Coke directly from the can or bottle! I like mine over ice, but not necessarily from a 'fountain'---so muhc of the time, fountain drinks are too syrupy. The carbonation varies a lot, too---it's really high when the cylinder has just been changed, very low when the cylinder's getting empty. I like mine really fizzy, but with room for the bubbles to burst. Strange, I know. (*grin*)

At three years out, I still share a can of coke once in a while. I couldn't drink the entire thing. the carbonation is actually painful in my restricted stomach and I have trouble forcing myself to burp. I loved the stuff preop but not so much anymore. It is so easy to make new habits--both bad and good...

 Hi Gail,

I thought I would try it after a year, that way I know I am totally healed and ready for something new.  I love diet coke so it will be a challenge but I also love Crystal Lite too.

Thanks,
Esther

I'm a total addict.  It took a while to work back to my original habit, but I worked really hard at it
