There are maybe 1 or 2 that had theirs lengthened, but they are not on this board anymore. They are on a FB group. But unless you are losing weight uncontrollably or are so vitamin deficient that you can't take enough vitamins most reputable surgeons won't do a reversal.

Hi,

I had a RNY revision to DS. Just wondering why you want/need your DS reversed. It is not something I have seen discussed.

Thanks, Terri

I am not that far out.  I have had nothing but problems ever since I had it done.  I have lost weight.  Too many to go into.  I am already having problems with vitamin deficiencies.  As a person, I am a problem solver.  If my body is rejecting it (which is what it appears), then I need to have it undone before I go any further and live with the sleeve (which was my original plan)

I've talked to 5 different surgeons (other than the one who did mine).  Three of them said based on all my medical, I should not have done this surgery.  The surgeon who did mine was aware of my gastro issues but assured me this surgery would help it.

When I intake fat, I get sick.  Cheese is the only "fatty" food that has not made me sick.

If I can't intake the proper amount of fat then I am going to be even more vitamin deficient.  I am very concerned as to what will happen with me.

You only had your surgery a month ago.  You're jumping the gun here.  Bumping your surgeon out of the loop of communication is a bad idea right now.   Your sensitivity to some fats will likely subside in time.  Cheese is a wonderful source of protein, so eat up (especially ricotta).  Make sure you're getting some kind of probiotic, if even a cup of yogurt every day.  You may find bathroom issues subsiding with a good colony of bacteria in your body,    YOu're still very new and your body is adjusting.  Your body has a few months of vitamin stores, and deficiencies today were probably defeicient to begin with,.  If you get a bad reaction to something, then you hold off for a few weeks and try again later.

In other words - patience.  The world doesn't magically open up after surgery.  Recovery is a *****  It took me a good couple of months to feel normal, and even then, it was a new kind of normal.

The DS is designed to not let you absorb fat. So any fat based vitamins have to be the dry type. Anything suspended in oil will go right thru you.

With that said, it was almost three months before I was able to get all my vitamins in. The first couple of months is spent healing your new insides.

To help us help you, we need the name of your surgeon. How long your common channel is. Your lab values (all of them), what vitamins (brands and amounts) you are currently taking.

I also had gastro issues pre-op but my need for the diabetes resolution and my need of NSAIDS took priority.

I still, if I eat too many of the wrong carbs or if I have drinking milk, will experience gastro distress. And I am 20 months out. But day to day, my innards behave. But it wasn't an overnight thing...took time to adapt.

No, honey, your body isn't 'rejecting' your DS---it's trying really, really hard to adapt to it. You've GOT to give it some time. If you'll just hang in there, do what the vets are telling you, and give it SIX MONTHS, I think you'll be tickled pink with your awful ol' DS. (*grin*)

Need much more in the way of details.

1 - when was your surgery?
2 - who was your surgeon?  Do you know the length of your CC?
3 - post your labs - it does take time to get supplementation right and there are a lot of smart people here who can help
4 - What problems are you having?

Impossible for anyone to give you advice without more specifics.
