Recovery Question - Painful Contractions

I am now 6 weeks out of surgery.  I have had a very rough go of it.  I have been hospitalized twice after the surgery with pancreatitis.

One of my friends suggested this forum to me.

I have been having contraction type severe pain in my stomach.  I have a call into my surgeon but he hasn't called me back.

I wonder if it could be the vitamins.  I have been taking them slowly but all at once (that's what the dietician told me to do).

Has anyone had this and what did you do to help?

If the pain is a dull ache, then wait for the doc to call back.  If the pain is severe, then call the doc's office to let them know that you're on your way to the ER.

I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome and contractions are EXCATLY what my pain feels like. I thought I was dying. I called 911! Just milk allergy. Try avoiding lactose- I heard it happens after a DS frequently... Does the pain come and go within about 20-30 seconds? If so, sounds like me!

Yes, then it got further and further apart... Then stopped...

The surgeon's office said I probably got one of their vitamins stuck and the small intestine was trying to burp it out.  Doesn't really sound right to me.

Maybe I have an allergy to something in the vitamins.

I'm on the quest for new vitamins now.   Any suggestions?

I'm going to try either the Celebrate Chewables or the Tropical Oasis Liquid.

If the pills are difficult right now, I'd go for the liquids for a few weeks. It does get much easier. I think at the beginning I took two pills an hour all day until they were gone. They never got stuck or uncomfortable, but I felt terribly full when I took them. Perhaps if you space them out some, you may notice what could be giving you a reaction, if you really suspect that.
