Would you do your DS surgery again?

Me, me, me! I would have the DS (by a reputable surgeon) every month if I had to. I have regained my health and packed a lot of living into the last 4.5 years! I eat all of the great food I alwasy loved, from steaks to desserts to salads and my weight is pretty darn stable.

I did not lose all of my hair, but it did get thin and kind of fluffy for about a year. Now it's back and healthier than ever.

Not sure who your surgeon is, but make sure he knows what the hell he is doing--there are only a handful of surgeons who can actually do a real revision to a DS. Some docs lie to you to get you in the office and give you a piece of crap revision to a proximal RNY. Make sure you are getting a DS. Rabkin, Keshishian, Kemmeter all come to mind as real revision surgeons.

I would do it all over again and I am doing it all over again...

I had my 1st BPD w/DS in 2000, I was 469 and I lost 196 pounds...

I am having a revision on Oct 22, 2012...I have no worries cause I know it works I was just soo heavy the Dr told me I would have to do the in-order to get the rest off...I think for being 12yrs out Ive done rather well! And I look forward to doing even better!

Good Luck to you with your revision!!!

Debbie

 Hello Esterjane,
YES, YES,YES!!!!!!!My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. I didn't lose any hair from my DS, but I did lose alot of it a few years ago from a chemical straightening gone wrong!!! lol that I will never do again!!!

Hi Esther,

Yep, I sure would. Other than hernia repair and wonky liver enzymes, I'm doing good. I wasn't a revision, but there are many on here who will chime in.

I had a RNY to DS revision and would do it again in a heartbeat! I lost a ton of hair after my RNY but nothing noticeable after the DS. Go figure!

I was 62 when I had my revision, so don't let your age be an issue.
